Both look a little bit wrong - the skull from the guy has no real perspective, especially when you look at the teeth and the eyes you can see this. And the skull from the girl has a weird perspective too... the perspective lines are right, but she has drawn it in such a extrem angle - if you would have this skull in our 3d world, you have to look at it 2mm from your eyes away to have such a extrem perspective or it had to be a 400m skull.

Hers seemed miles better than his. When he said "I didn't really pick where the lightning was" DING DING DING!!!! Alarm bells went straight off in my head. ANY piece you do in ANY medium should have a comprehensive light source, unless the style doesn't require one. Saying that right there if I was the canvas I'd be hella scared and pissed about what is being permanently laid into me. Not to mention his over all color scheme wasn't very good. Even going back to his 1st episode to get on ink masters his work was terrible!

His only came out that good because everyone on the team helped him. he didnt prepare at all for the challenge. pretty upset with the show this season for some of the people they have sent home. no one wants to watch austin anymore he is clearly challenged compared to everyone else.

Here's my critique of both their tattoos: -Stacy's tattoo DEFINITELY has that Biomechanical feel to it and and well planned out color theory. Those hints of green really make the eyes pop. -Austin's tattoo has a ton of packed in color, but it's very flat and it's also a little hard to tell where the light source is.

I used to watch this show a lot. I felt the easiest way to watch it was to just record it. Fast forward to them describing the challenge. Then fast forward to them showing the tattoo. Then fast forward to see who got sent home. Just skip over all the fake dialogue and forced drama/conflict to see the tattoos. Because for the most part the tattoos are pretty great.

Sad thing is you can clearly see who Cleen was rooting for. Besides clipping Stacy’s hair in the beginning, I don’t think I’ve seen Cleen go to Stacy’s side the entire time! IMO, I think keeping Stacy wouldve been a good idea because on the top of my head, I cannot recall any tattoo artist that specializes in Watercolor.

They are not so great. They are creativ and so on, of course, but just look at the shading, the perspective, and so on - they are sometimes wrong. And perspective, lightsources and so an are part of an artists basics. .....so no, they are not very good artists in a technical way. (But of course, that does not mean, that there pieces do not look good or that they are bad artists, I just wanted to explain, why they are not really "amazing" artists ...if this makes sense. :) )

If you watch the full episode, it is well-established that this faceoff is "let's see who produces the best tattoo, and whoever doesn't goes gome," meaning that report cards and how good of a team player they are is totally out of the decision. Plus, the judges absolutely tore into Austin's, but the only critique for Stacy was "the skull shape is a little weird and the teeth shouldn't have been so neat." Every artist except for Tony thought Stacy was safe, no sweat. Even watching the elimination, in the last 10 seconds of it Ollie and Chris flip out of nowhere and vote off Stacy even though up until then they showed heavy favortism for Stacy's tattoo. It was just weird and out of nowhere.

I'm pretty sure that that statement was the reason, or something of the same kind. You can't brag about not being good and get in a competition. You can't make a statement like you can't do anything in an hour, if you were selected out of a whole lotta people and were given an opportunity. Before you guys flip out and say that it was a joke or say that she has the right to say anything. I agree with you. But it brings bad attention to things and accusations of why others were not selected and so on. And hey. I'm not an expert. I'm just saying.
