I want to be trained up from the grind up. That’s what happens in the security/home automation field that I have been in for a decade. I tried to apply for a biomed position at my local VA and I don’t have the qualifications. I’m hoping to get a foot in the door doing admin work for their biomed department. And then transferring to be trained up.

If that route doesn't pan out getting an online biomed degree could assist in that as well. Could go through the AAMI apprenticeship program as well. You do have options if you can't break through. Wishing you the best of luck sir!

Thank you! Is that online certification 10k? The AAS looks like it’s 23,000 I think I’d like to do that while I’m working there to help me move up in the future!

I'm not familiar with a cert that costs that but getting your AAS is a sound plan. College of Biomedical Equipment Technology has a good program too

@@johnowens5207 If you're coming in fresh with no technical background, I do /not/ recommend the online program. If you are inclined to study for yourself, as well as possessing a technical background, and cannot afford to not work full-time, then it's really your only recourse. I would do an in-person/hybrid program at a local community college within your area before I would do the online program. I'm nearly completing my AAS with CBET, and I feel grossly undereducated for what I'm allegedly able to perform, if you only go by the program's curriculum.

Very good points but I will say there will always be moments throughout your career where you don't know something and that's ok. A willingness to learn is a trait I see come in clutch time and time again. Now iif you are able to do an in-person program where you break down and test out hands on style on devices it will serve you immensely!
