This talk was delivered at the 2018 National Bioneers Conference. Introduction by Nina Simons, Bioneers Co-Founder and Relationship Strategist.
Lyla June -- poet, musician, anthropologist, educator, public speaker and community organizer of Diné, Cheyenne and European lineages -- has inspired audiences around the world with a message of personal, collective and ecological healing. Drawing from her studies in Human Ecology and the traditional ancestral Diné worldview with which she grew up, she’ll explore the links between environmental destruction and "rape culture" and how we can heal and transform ourselves and our society. Lyla will delve into how the healing of women can unleash the healing of men and how we have to heal humanity to heal the Earth. She’ll share paradigm-shifting techniques from the heart of the hogan that help mend the broken heart of the Western world.

Yáʼátʼééh Lyla!.... Thank you for adding another level of meaning to this beautiful greeting. America needs even more healing since I last watched this a year ago. The racism, anti-semitism. anti-gay sentiment, and misogyny are even more apparent. Your song is helping to remember what we are doing!!!! ʼTogether there is nothing that we cannot achieveʼ

Just wanted to add my two cents. "Ya' at ééh" The word actually means "it is good". When two individuals get one another one says "ya at eeh." The typical response is usually "o'o ya at eeh" This seemingly simple exchange signifies the health and status of individuals greeting one another. It tells one that "life is good, health is good, spirit is good, in the hozhojii way." And the respondent also "yes it is good, life is good, I'm good, hozhojii way is good." It is true "ya" means the heavens or sky but the direct translate of "ya at eeh" meaning "it is good." For instance one can say "shil ya at eeh" meaning "it is good with me." Just saying. Thank you kindly.

"anytime you go outside, wherever you go, honor rhe indigeneous peoples wher you go, follow their ceremonies follow their way of life, follow what they have to say, because they know the songs of that land." "Di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit dijunjung" is one of popular Indonesian proverbs which literally translates as "where the feet touch the ground, there the sky held up", it is is equivalent to a proverb "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". Both proverbs have similar meaning, that when you are visiting another place, you should follow the customs of the people in that place.
