This is an absolutely incredible run. It shows how amazing the swinging mechanics are. Full of depth and many ways to go about the levels in quick or stylish ways. I love this game and really wish somebody would make a spiritual successor

Thank you so much for doing a speed run without having to put your face in the corner! I enjoy watching speed runs much better when I don’t have to listen to the player talk or see their face.🎉

As bad as their grammar was, CapCon did a really good job of telling a story with their games. This and Strider had good cutscenes.

On the Area that requires the 3-way cannon to enter, you can take down the wall, evacuate, then parachute back in with the rocket. Though I'm not sure if the time it takes to do that is more than the time saved on the boss.
@TheSuperSNES2 жыл бұрын
You're correct! On this version, it is ~4 seconds slower (I think....maybe it was 2 seconds?) to exit and use the rocket launcher vs having a very good stage clear with the 3-way shot (if you get the boss manipulation). On the JP version, the text in the menus is fast enough that it is actually just about the same speed to use rocket launcher.

I cannot figure out how the doors to the boss rooms are open even though you are not communicating.
@TheSuperSNES Жыл бұрын
In area 5, just entering the communicator room fulfills the requirement. In most of the other areas (1, 4, 8 at least), you need to actually use the computer.

Doesn't look like it to me, there were a couple times he screwed up. Look at @10:30, the runner completely whiffed grappling that ledge. That would never ever happen in a TAS run.
@otavioxavier96524 жыл бұрын
Brilliant. I hope you see this: there is some time saving possible in stage 7. Drop the barrier, exit the level and reenter with rocket launcher. Boss will be quicker.
@TheSuperSNES4 жыл бұрын
It is actually ~4 seconds slower to exit and use the rocket launcher because the dialogue and stage entry is so slow. On the Japanese version, the text is much faster and the rocket launcher strat is only ~1.5 seconds slower, but it is still slower.

@@TheSuperSNES Thank you! I have the japanese cartridge (had to figure everything out myself over a couple of years) so I thought it would be better. You are a master. This is my favorite NES game and I still play it (I have bought it in 1990). Let me ask you: how do you do the "jumps" from the floor? I use down when in the air for that effect, but would not work on the floor (Radd would kneel).
@TheSuperSNES4 жыл бұрын
@@otavioxavier9652 Thanks! Always happy to hear that others love this game. ^_^ The little hops from the floor are the same as the ones you're doing in the air, just quicker (unless you're noticing the hops from the springboards in levels 6 and 9). I'm pressing down just a few frames after starting a swing (or in the case of the backwards hop, on the same frame that I start a swing).
