I think most people get hung up on Stage 3 - You get through that tough water section, and then you're just dropped into this massive zone with no direction. It's a tough game!
@gamerk3163 жыл бұрын
@@UCanBeatVideoGames Getting through the sewers on stage 3 comes down to learning the three different jumps; light press for a 3 block jump, medium for a longer one, and hold for a high jump. Most of the sewers can be cleared with the light jump, which makes all those 3 block jumps trivial. Also note there are buildings you can use to get a dead turtle back in both stages 3 and 4. Finally, the endgame gets really easy if you farm for scrolls, which you can do in both stages 3 and 4.
@UCanBeatVideoGames3 жыл бұрын
Definitely true! If I were to redo this video, I'd definitely show where you can find a lost Turtle in Stages 3 and 6 (I do show the ones in Stage 4 and 5) Personally, I think the best place to farm Scrolls is in Stage 5 - it's the easiest spot to get them, and just in case you die before that, you don't waste all of the time you spent farming.

I prefer to put them on Leo or another turtle besides Don since they deal as much damage as a bo strike from a greater distance. If you want to switch who has boomerangs, you can toss them and switch characters to catch them moving them 3 at a time. My father bought me this game when it first came out. I spent a lot of time playing it, re-playing it, dying and trying over and over and over again. Now I am 40 years old and I don’t have the dexterity or the attention span to play this game. I definitely will buy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game collection simply so I can play this game, TMNT 2 and Turtles in Time. I’m actually glad this game exists because it’s a sharp contrast as an adventure game to all of the four player beat them ups that came later. Realistically, the four player beat them ups are exactly what kids actually wanted while the adventure game is closer to what I wanted. This is also the type of game that is perfect for an arcade or party.

Was it though? The amount of use of can’t hit you spots, respawned pizzas, OP Donnie… it seems like rather bad design, where you have to take advantage of the bad design in order to win.

You, sir, are a champ. The first full playthrough of TMNT I've seen and the first time I've actually seen the game start to finish. I had this game when it launched back in my very young youth, I HATED that frickin' dam level, and my personal best was reaching the Technodrome, but I could never destroy it. You just made it look like as easy as a hot knife cutting through warm butter. Bravo. 👏👏

Came so close to beating this game so many times as a kid. I still loved this game. Of course, back in my day, there was no internet. Only magazines such as Nintendo Power existed. In addition, there was the 800 hotline number that us kids could utilize. However, my parents couldn't afford that. If my older brother and I used that without permission, we would probably still be grounded to this day. LOL.

One of my favorite things to do in this game as a kid was to try and fight the big roller in the overworld at the start. Don't know why, but it was quite satisfying exploding it after it usually simply rolls over a turtle and instantly eliminates them ^^

I was 11 or 12 when I beat this game. I didn't have that many games, I kept going till I beat it back then. I mostly got hung up on the last sewer area of Stage 3 before the boss. I kept falling in the water because I jumped to high. Once I accidentally jumped the correct height, I had it all click. Then I cleared the rest of the game with in a couple days of getting past that.

If you accidentally get boomerangs on a turtle you don't want them on, throw the boomerangs and switch to the turtle you DO want to have them, and they'll transfer over as he catches them

This game was brutal and my top 10 hardest NES games I've ever played (ones I've own personally) and only the Simpsons being the only NES game I've never been able to beat (beaten this game twice ever after hardcore grinding it as a kid back in NES days). This game was surprisingly deep. Not a lot of people knew as your health got lower, you did more damage with that turtle so it made Donnie (the most broken turtle) even stronger. It was interesting how the balance of the turtles was. Donnie was the strongest, had the best range, but I think was the slowest to recover from his attacks while Leo felt like the weakest turtle of the 4. Mick and Raph felt like the middle ground turtles (not great but not awful either) and their weakest points was their range which was dangerous against specific enemies and most bosses. Generally these two would just be your turtles for soaking damage for hard sections so prevent losing Donnie. Watching this is inspiring and you realize how much grinding and actual skill you needed to beat this hard games. Well done!
@Milenko003 жыл бұрын
16:20 You know you can transfer boomerangs by throwing them, switching turtles, and then catching them right? Boomerangs were my favorite subweapon in this game cause they were basically unlimited use, and you could trade them to all your turtles.
