On the topic of matching the colours of weapons to a MOC, I think it comes down to an individual basis. If it's a very important character, then they're probably gonna have at least some personalisation to their gear, even if it's as simple as painting parts of it to match their own armour or something. If it's just a generic soldier or something though, then they're gonna have generic gear, and communicating that would mean making it look like gear that could be easily mass-produced. Your average soldier isn't gonna carry an ancient relic sword into battle (although, as the writer, you can have that happen if you give good reasoning for it). On another note, here's an idea. Take something like the weapon that Larkzan has, run a flex tube through it, and slightly seperate the cones, and you've got a posable whip-blade.

Forgive me if I missed an episode where you did it, but could you possibly do an episode on combiners? Like, two or more mocs that combine into a new thing?
@kacinema964 жыл бұрын
Evan Hardwick I don’t mean taking parts from multiple sets to make something new. I mean two or more individual Mocs that are designed to connect in some way like Combiner transformers.

Evan Hardwick a better comparison to what I’m thinking of would be a Megazord.

People just can't seem to get enough of the pew pews and the shwing shwings. I think the reason people like weapons is because they are an extension of the character. With Bio-MOCs primarily being humanoids and beings with personalities given to them, a lot is conveyed in how they are designed, but then giving them items and especially weapons makes them even more interesting. Guns may show more of a modern philosophy, while a melee weapon suggests a craft to combat. Having said that, a weapon actually needs to compliment your character, and even though it made sense for the play functions of the Mistika, I think everyone agrees that the Toa Nuva using guns just doesn't really work. If you're making a bag bad monster guy, he probably would be using a melee weapon because he lives for the kill, he's interested in making it personal. A character designed to be wise may use a sword because it is traditional and they see it as more honorable, but even then, they may not even use or need a weapon at all and instead have a staff. A younger character may be more interested in a projectile weapon because it holds a lot of power, but it's also just tactically smarter to not let your enemy get any closer than they have to be. What you give the character will say a lot about that character and what they've experienced to make their choices in weapons and then even further with how those weapons are designed. I say that, but I remember a lot of people's Self MOCs having every kind of weapon and I think it's just because it's looks cool. You want to see yourself as being the best and so then your Self MOC is the best at everything. Small daggers, big swords, pistols, rifles, flamethrowers, elemental weapons that bend reality to your will, and everything in between; it's just so many possibilities that make for great a great photoshoot.

MCLegoboy It's comments like this that make me want to save them, and I couldn't agree more. The weapon of a MOC can end up being as important as the MOC itself, as it can make or break a character with what the weapon conveys through connotations. The connotations are often as important as the weapons themselves, where swords can imply nobility and a spear can mean scrappiness, while a scythe can scream death and a staff can say one is old...and EXPERIENCED!

@BenCossyOfficial4 жыл бұрын
I get you man. The best solution for that is to just start. Everyone can have so much fear come up before starting a project, stuff like will what I make be good enough, will it look nice in comparison to this persons MOC etc etc. The best way to beat that is to just start and not go in judging what you're making. Just make a thing, whether it's good or bad, just make it and fix it later. Version 1 is better then version none. Don't judge what you're doing, judgement kills creativity. Where exactly you start doesn't matter, pick a spot and start there, it's the right place to start. Does that help?
