Voice over lines I had to cut from this video for the sake of time/pacing: intended at 09:06- "In Generation 1 terms, they're kind of like a combination of Artakha and Karzahni in addition to the classic Mata Nui and Makuta dynamic." intended at 10:52- "Literally any of these concept art designs would have been SO much better, what- what happened???" (in regard to the 2016 Uniters, felt redundant because the elemental beasts needed the line more) intended at 14:58- "The Bohrok weren't called the bug army- they were called 'the Bohrok' -so I think that the reboot should have tried to come up with more interesting names even at the risk of sounding too alien or like gibberish." intended at 17:56- "Imagine if your favorite BIONICLE characters were voiced by actors like Temeura Morrison, Jermaine Clement, Rachel House, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Taika Waititi doing one of his cameos, or all kinds of undiscovered Polynesian talent..."

I think that the g2 versions of the bohrok and the rahkshi would be the bohrok as "scarabs" and the rahkshi as "serpents" like picture umarak saying "rise, my elemental scarabs!" or "rise, my powerful serpents!" the rahkshi would makes sense, because umarak the hunter has the g2 version of the kanohi krahkaan a.k.a the mask of shadows.

I'd prefer the Moana creative team over Taika Waititi tbh. Bionicle had the capacity for humor but it was a dark and dramatic epic. The way Waititi butchered Thor is reprehensible, and I don't really want him near Bionicle. Moana is a banger tho

HERE'S A GOOD POINT: We all bionicle lovers are adults now alright, and I don't know about you but I would gladly spend my paychecks on new bionicle sets. Lego NEEDS to get this in their heads, bionicle is once again, absolutely profitable, but we also deserve a storyline that is canon, no remake bs. I want toys, I want movies, I want tons of lore, and I'm willing to spend every single peny. We just gotta make sure that lego takes notice of this. Cause mayem online, make fan art, spread the word. I believe a hard reboot is %100 possible, let them know that we want it, they might listen.

Watching this while knowing there a tons of Bionicle/Hero Factory sets on the shelf behind me, it feels different and comfortable at the same time. Diving into something, that was your passion and your interest at your younger age, really brings up the nostalgia. Not like nostalgia (a while ago it was better, duh), but a feeling that it truly happened and happened to many people across the globe. We may be complete strangers and won't be able to meet each other at all in our lifetime, but knowing that we share or once shared a love for something common is incredible. Special thanks to you, Lavapasta, for putting all of this together to refresh sacred memories and moments of true satisfaction, as well as fulfilling the story that I haven't fully operated on and dived into - Final showdown with Makuta. See you soon again, Bionicle fans.

I never realized it before, but your Idea for a perfect Bionicle reboot is simply perfect. The reason g2 failed (or at least one of the reasons) was it became bland. Bionicle can never be bland; it was always the antithesis of bland. By having a Maori creative team lead the reboot, you could capture that original sense of wonder and aw while allowing the original culture to become more recognized. Its genius, yet so incredibly obvious. Beyond anything I want for my future, this has become my dream. That one day, maybe, this could become reality

I totally agree with your pitch for a new Bionicle. I actually have the franchise to thank for my growing interest in Polynesian culture. I still wonder to this day where gen1 might have gone if it stayed the course of its Pacific inspiration. Although Gen2 uses ancient Aztec and Japanese designs, the Maori/Fijian style might have been welcomed this time around in light of their growing presence in film and other media, which hadn't quite started until just after 2001.

G2 was my introduction to Bionicle. However, I only had 3 sets and never got any 2016 sets because even though I like Gali, both Umaraks, Ekimu and the beasts, I was repulsed by most of the toa so I didn't get any. Now there to expensive second hand.

The original creators made Bionicle, and made it well. Getting Polynesian people to replace them would a massive mistake, it wouldn't look like Bionicle and it wouldn't be Bionicle, their indirect contribution doesn't justify it in the least. Also, Lego giving them money is ridiculous, their culture or language isn't copyrighted.

Another excellent video! While I have a bit more of a soft spot for the Uniters, I do agree the way they suffered for the sake of the function. I personally like Onua and Lewa's 2016 incarnations over the 2015 versions, but with the other four I certainly agree they started off on such a great note that it was hard to really top that. Wish we'd have gotten the third year we were promised; I wonder what third versions of the G2 Toa could have looked like. Alas. I also agree that Taika and other Maori creators working on a third Generation would be perfect, but unfortunately I don't think another reboot is likely to happen in the first place :/ But yeah, on the whole I'm really grateful for G2 having existed at all, despite its narrative shortcomings; between most of the Masters being definitive versions of the original Toa, and Umarak the Hunter at least making for a conceptually interesting and visually striking villain (even if that was also undercut by his transformation into the Destroyer) I did like this bonus addition to my favorite childhood series.
@Lavapasta4 жыл бұрын
Yeah! I do kind of like Lewa's Uniter mask because it is a little bit more like past Lewa masks, but those weird metallic ridges just rub me the wrong way in general, a Taika Waititi + Maori/Polynesian led BIONICLE reboot is just something for if we lived in a perfect world, and you could probably just cut+paste what I said about 2010's BIONICLE Stars being not quite up to par "but I'm still glad they exist" and apply that to my feelings on Generation 2. It's not as substantial as Gen 1, but it is most certainly a neat bonus.
@ColdGoldLazarus4 жыл бұрын
@@Lavapasta yeah, I can definitely see that. Think Gali's uniter mask was the weirdest-looking in that regard. I think it would have looked better if they'd been Dual-molded with their translucent accent color instead of the silver, (like the Protectors in 2015) would have tied the ridges into the general crystal theme 2016 had going on, and been more visually striking besides. And yeah, that pretty much sums it up nicely, on both counts.
@Lavapasta4 жыл бұрын
@@ColdGoldLazarus Exactly- translucent colors would have worked a lot better than metallic from the beginning of 2016, and in Tahu's case I wish the bottom of his mask wasn't so much like an upside-down triangle. Throw in some more blade molds to give characters more weapon diversity (like a fire broadsword for Tahu instead of the dumb, extending dual swords) and you've got a much more improved lineup of Uniter figures.

Hi, if you say that both the skull villians and beasts weren't so great then what kind of villians could you think that would've been better for the reboot?
@Lavapasta4 жыл бұрын
probably CCBS Bohrok redesigns in place of the Skull army, and just like I said in the video, mythological hybrid creatures (mermaids, centaur, harpies) in place of the elemental beasts. I'd want the Gen 2 Bohrok to be more skull themed to demonstrate their allegiance with the skull spiders because the spiders are basically the new Krana, and I'd want the hybrid creatures to be specifically named something like the "Umaros" (derived from Umarak) so that they have a specific group name. If Gen 2 continued along into 2017, I think it would be interesting to see a new take on the Hordika concept where either the Toa get turned into were-beasts or if they fought against a group of wild Hordika that just so happen to consist of names like Vakama, Nokama, Nuju, Matau, Onewa, and Whenua so that at the end of the year, the main cast realizes that they weren't the first Toa to exist. Either that or CCBS Rahkshi villains for 2017.

@@Lavapasta But do you think the Toa Okoto should of been new characters than the original Toa Mata from 2001 including Makuta?
@Lavapasta4 жыл бұрын
@@haydenccc3159 Not really, bringing back the Toa Mata/Nuva lineup was a smart decision that I agree with. I feel like reboots in general should have a mix of old characters with new ideas and contexts so that it feels both recognizable and original at the same time, like a remix of a popular song. However, if you adhere too much to one aspect, old ideas or new ideas, then a reboot might feel too derivative of what came before, or so original that it might as well be its own story- reboots require a balance between the old and the new.

Hi, i think that G2 was cancelled because of: Lackluster story Awful marketing Star Wars figures made alongside G2 Overpriced sets And the team in charge of G2 being ######### If i were in charge of Bionicle G2, i would fix it by making the sets better, having more villains, have an actual marketing, and a great story that isn't oversimplified and light-hearted, but instead complex and just as dark as 2006 or the Miramax films. On the other hand, instead of making G2, i would use its assets to properly finish G1 rather than make those lazy Bionicle Stars. 2016 actually feels like Bionicle unlike 2015 which is just plain CCBS with gearboxes and different heads, so i will use 2016 designs. The Uniter sets wouldve been used as new forms for the Nuva. 2016 Toa-scaled Ekimu wouldve been used as a new Takanuva. Umarak wouldve been used as The Shadowed One or a new Dark Hunter character. The JTO Makuta wouldve been used as the new Teridax (being the final boss of the story). But thats it. Everything else wouldve been new CCBS figures.
@Luka11803 жыл бұрын
BIONICLE wouldn't necessarily have to be bound by the gender restriction if they had continued the stoy on Spherus Magna either, though, as the Turaga might have found ways to build new MUan-making machines from the ones of the destroyed universe inside the GSR, and found ways to reprogram them to spit out people of any "personalities"/"mindsets", with any gender identites they want. Or however MUan genders work, whether it be more of a physical thing or purely a mental programming/AI thing. Since they do have sapience, it may also be something they decide themselves. Whatever, you get what I mean. They were building up to meetings with Great Beings after all, with the Toa in The Yesterday Quest even being on a journey that, according to Greg Farshtey, would lead them to where they were created after all. So, they could be like "We'll stop trying to seek you out, Grea Being, if you show us how these machines are built and how they work."
@Roadman10004 жыл бұрын
G2 really lost a lot of the charm G1 had also the story change is so jarring it really put me off of buying the figures. A story about the adventures on Spherus Magna instead of being a complete reboot of the story would've been nice.
