When I was 14-16 I was constantly groomed and abused by both male and female adults. At the time I felt so cool telling my friends about it, thinking I had control over grown ups. As I grew up, I felt so disgusted and guilty for everything that happened. Boys can be abused too and we shouldn't normalize it, becuse it leads to other young boys to think that it's normal and cool.

I am a 100% sure that nearly every woman or girl has had an encounter with a guy like this. The amount of men I have talked to at the age of like 13-16 that were in their early twenties and interested in me is scary. So many women do not even realize that they had been groomed in their childhood. 2nd Edit: To clarify yes children in general are vulnerable on the internet and every gender gets harassed. I was talking about my experience as a girl, that's what I identify as, and wanted to relate and bring more awareness to other girls and women. The whole point of this conversation is however that young people especially children get preyed on by grown people and we need to change that.

They prey on girls who didn't have as strong as a childhood as they needed. My father was never around. And since I'm the oldest, I helped my mom. I never got attention from boys my age, but older men would come and call me mature and smart for my age. Because I didnt have a string male model figure, I lived for the attention and compliments. About what BionicPig said about "yoinking out their sex drive": I am by no means an expert, but my Criminology professor explained that sexual assault has less to do with sex drive and a lot more to do with violence and wanting to intimidate and humiliate victims. As much as I would like the solution to be as simple as neutering sex offenders, that kind of behavior comes from a much deeper place.
@whatifschrodingersboxwasacofin3 жыл бұрын
Survivor here. The experts call it ‘soul m*rder’. It is all about power, control, manipulation, and the subversion of freedom and innocence to adult desire/need not the sex act(s), as you point out. Gender is only secondarily relevant, so we need to protect all kids from all adults. The good adults ‘in the village’ will cooperate, in whatever form the particular situation calls for.

OMG, I met a guy like Dan in college. He was always video taping people and our club meetings. Found him video taping a member's chest who was only 17 (taking college classes). He once popped up at a friends house while I was there and shoved his camera in my face saying "why don't you want to be filmed, you're pretty, no reason you shouldn't want to". I started crying and telling him to fuck off and my friends were too chickenshit to say anything. My friend lived in the middle of nowhere and had driven me, so I couldn't leave without him. I started looking around the room for items to defend myself he was aggressing without putting hands on me, but I wanted him away from me. People only made a real fuss when they caught him with his pants open in a club meeting and someone saw that he did take a lot of chest and upskirt shots. He got a lot of defense because he said he had Asperger's, that filming helped him express himself, and a club member said she had Asperger's so she didn't want to attack him or make him feel alienated like she has... but you know, not filming, violating space or anything. Oh yeah, he'd randomly come up and grope guys, like he knew he couldn't do that to girls without consequences, but figured he could just run up behind guys and start rubbing their shoulders (nice, meek guys who wouldn't just punch him of course). I'm still upset that there's a video out there of me freaking out, in tears, yelling at the bastard to just stop filming me and I can't do anything to destroy it. But these bastards say I don't have to consent if they're not making money off it. Catching someone on film, like them being in a photo of something else, is not going to get you in trouble. A private film collection of bodies and getting in people's faces without their knowledge or permission, that's obviously shitty and a violation. I hate that guy still and hope he's no longer even out there. He didn't seem to be doing anything positive with his existence.

I outed a local predator. He was 20 and dated a 15 year old in my school then after she broke up with him he contacted me (17 years old) and several other girls EVEN HIS COUSIN. I outed him to his entire family, to everyone in town, to the sheriff's office and notified him that I did so. He hasn't done anything since but everyone knows what he is.

Dude i really just want to sincerely thank you for being who you are. I've had so many FORMER male friends who straight up don't even believe the things women have to go through, so hearing a man acknowledge and believe that "women can't even just walk around during the day and chill" makes me unbelievably happy and hard. It IS terrifying for me to just walk around because I've been harassed in public, even during work, SO often. I get so much anxiety going outside, I used to wish i never existed so many times because i hate that i was born a woman. So thank you so much for using your platform to speak about things like this. Much love

I started working in various customer service jobs at 14 and constantly had older men touching me inappropriately and saying disgusting things. Once a man grabbed my ass as I walked away. As a young teen girl, I was constantly on edge and scared at work

I kinda like his voice. It adds to the spookiness. I think it’s more on the robotic side is because he’s reading a script vs just going for it
