The fact that Judith, who also voiced Ducky in the Land Before Time, has "yep yep yep" on her grave stone is one of those things that will randomly pop into my head and keep me up at night. I think all you really need to know about Don Bluth Studios is that Disney made The Black Cauldron to try to keep up with Don Bluth. The Black Cauldron is so dark that Disney basically walled it off and doesn't ever talk about it. It's so twisted, so sad, so frightening, that they're treating it the same way they treat Song of the South. Go watch it! One of the main characters commits suicide because no one likes him! He says "I'll die. No one likes Gurgi." Then he jumps to his death into a possessed cauldron that's belching demons into the room. He's like a cute little dog character! It's for kids!

Don Bluth's 80's movies from The Secret of NIMH to I think this or Rock-a-Doodle were dark as hell, but are some of the greatest works in the history of animation. An American Tail was my absolute childhood favorite. I think in the movie the watch was somewhat his heart that was keeping him alive. Which is why Charlie was kinda scared when he got shot because he probably thought the watch broke and why he also wanted to protect it so much. Another thing is that it could also be a reference of the depiction of watches that keeps ticking as we're alive and stops once we die. ⏳⌚ Interesting little detail to look on when you're older looking back at these movies you didn't fully understand as a kid!

Just thought about this, but why did the demon dog let Charlie come and say goodbye to Annemarie? You think he was granted some kind of wish for giving his life for her? If the demon dog hadn't brought Charlie's spirit back to the surface, then the angel dog wouldn't have been able to destroy it and take Charlie back up to Heaven. So it must have been a really big deal. Maybe even something unprecedented since Charlie wasn't supposed to EVER be able to go back to Heaven.

@@xpandorasboxx It's not a demon cat. It's a demon dog. The hellhound from Charlie's nightmare and the demon cat in All Dogs 2 are completely different characters. It's obvious in their character designs. They may have some similarities in that they're both demonic animals and have 'goat-beards' (for lack of a better word) and Red can change size, but aside from that, not much else. Also, All Dogs 2 completely messed up the continuity of the first movie... for some reason, since that kind defeats the purpose of being a sequel.

Damn, man, the feels...I remember this movie when I was a kid and it meant a lot to me because I had a dog and, as a kid, believed when it was her time, she'd go to a better place...I even cared about Anne-Marie (Judith Barsi) because, even though most of the adult themes escaped me, I could comprehend that she was a sweet girl that deserved love from people that cared about her (physically painfully ironic all things considered). I was happy with the ending because Charlie is in Doggo Heaven, Itchy has a home and all the flea baths he could ever need, and Anne-Marie got the family she deserved...now...this...I didn't know. I had to come back to this 2 or 3 hours later to unwind because it genuinely depressed me. It hurts even more knowing that, from what I read, this was all, at least somewhat, preventable. The signs were there but too little, too late...this isn't the place for this conversation so I'll just say looking back, it really hurts because I'd love to have seen what she could have done as a voice actress, coincidentally, she also voiced my favorite TLBT character- Ducky. Not everyone deserves to be a parent...breaks my heart.

Big Lipped Alligator Moment!!! When I was in fourth grade, I actually loaned this movie to my teacher so she could show it to the class. Back then, the hell scenes didn't seem that weird, but when I looked back at it as an adult, I thought, "I actually watched a kids' movie that featured a ghost dog saying his final goodbyes to a little girl while the gates of hell are opening just outside the window." Childhood was weird.

This poor girl endured so much in her short 10 years of life! Her father was a literal monster! He was EXTREMELY abusive to her and her mother, he was so jealous of her success, what kind of father is jealous of their 10 year old daughter?? I have read that things were so bad and she was going through so much pain that she would pull out her own eyelashes just to cope! He couldn’t just kill himself, he had to shoot and set their house on fire! I usually don’t see suicide as a cowards way out but with him I do!
