Great interview John, I hope you can get a lot of farmers to listen to this recording, all the way to the end. Many farmers I know are not in good health and definitely it would pay for them to start gardening and really growing food. Excellent insights, thank you.

Thanks for another great informative interview. I found the comment about the midwest being a good food desert. Living in Nebraska I totally agree with all the comments made about it, I have found that it's difficult to convince especially standard conventional farmers that there is a difference between good and bad food because they feel that since they farm they know all about food, it's only when you can have them try some truly good food that they are willing to change and think outside the box.

China stopped exporting fertilizer. Commercial farmers will have to switch or go broke. I love vermicompost. Feed coffee grounds to worms to get Nitrogen based amino acids. Wash eggshells and sterilize them in an over at 350 F. Pulverize them and feed them to worms. They will turn the chitin into chitinase which is an enzyme that eats the exoskeletons of aphids and other insects.

I would have appreciated a lot more science from a biophysicist and way fewer generalizations. At least when Harriet Mella mentioned soil transformations she mentioned the particular microbes and molecules involved.

The biophysics part of his background shows up periodically, like when he uses the analogy of torque on a wrench, to turn a nut. An everyday example, sure. However, it really highlights the way that a force can be multiplied by using a simple pipe, t=r*F. There's some real, solid math behind all of this. Energy is also an important concept in physics, which you can tell that he has really put some time and thought into.

You guys make a great point in - HOW do you reach the critical point where a regenerative system is both self sustaining and self expanding? Inputs are fine but if the inputs are always required you’re still taking energy away from something other than parent material and atmosphere to build it up, which I wouldn’t consider a regenerative soil entity unless it’s output was always greater than input

Some good purviews and ways of looking at plant growth that we aren't normally seeing and much appreciation for that. However letting Alden go unchallenged with some pretty radical views about God being the life force versus all the other possible explanations of how energy and the universe works was discouraging to experience.

Life begets life .the plant health pyramid probably applies to seed genetics also .I believe that if we do what nature teaches us then the yields and plant health / soil health genetic expression etc will be more forthcoming.

Arden said "biophotons... The little particles of information" - I say when we eat more fresh, ripe, nutrient dense fruits and vegetables that are increasingly biophotonically coherent, we (humans) are provided increasingly relevant information on how we interact with one another (cooperatively) as well as new insights into social structures that benefit all people, animals, plants, etc... The bottom line, if we really want to change our current social structures into cooperative powerhouses that are in harmony with life, then we all need to begin consuming increasing amounts of Clean Food (fresh, ripe, nutrient dense fruits and veggies)
@lateralus65124 жыл бұрын
The elements that he thinks are 'translocating' are simply being accessed by the soil microbes in a non linear sense. In other words those nutrients were already there in the 'total soil reserve' but weren't available to the plant until the biological activity improved. The soil microbiology has a symbiotic relationship with living plant roots. This soil - plant relationship needs to be thought about as one rather than seperate. Christine Jones explains some of this well in her paper The Liquid Carbon Pathway. We must learn to think lateral rather than linear. Or a balance between left and right brain. Science and academia is more left brain in it's approach. Where in the natural world do you find a whole meadow of one plant species? No where. Nature is dynamic not linear.
