Bioponics- It's like aquaponics. But where do we get nutrients, if not from fish?'

So....you chop up plants, soak them in water letting them break down, then take that water and feed to new plants?

I was ready to purchase a aquaponics system, but your system stopped me! So you have my attention. How do I start?

isn't the fertilizer still biologically active when you put them in those jugs? if so doesnt the fertilizer go anaerobic? thanks for your videos. they are inspiring.

Yes. It goes anaerobic. We don't care at this stage. Still very little methane, ammonia or CO2 released (container remains air-tight - no vapor loss. If in a closed container all elements remain in tact vs dry compost which volatilizes and dissipates ammonia (nitrogen), or leaches to soil and runoff (minerals).

Does the liquid fertilizer have a longer shelf life because the carbon is removed? Awesome stuff keep up the good work 👍
@bioponics
@bioponics 7 жыл бұрын
illbooger yes, the liquid fertilizer is stable as Nutricycler processes carbon. No additional fermentation takes place in the jugs.

Just about to look for videos you've done on how you make the fertilizer. Adding it to the "How to have a sell-able skill in Game of Thrones" knowledge file. So far I'm at the I'm useless and I'd die stage. Liquid fertilizer sounds good for any stranded in fantasy situation ;)

Isn't it called aquaponic if you still using fish to make ammonia?

i guess u use worm tea as liquid fertilizer from worm castings as nutrients and use air pump to provide oxygen to microbes/micro organism ? is that all u use in water or any other chemical ?

Bioponics is a superfluous term for what is essentially a hydroponic system after you remove the fish since they are not required for the system to work. Instead of feeding the plants with store bought liquid fertilizers, you feed the plants with your home made liquid fertilizer, the good old compost tea which is what your web site claims to use. "Bio stands for biology." Hahaha, as if aquaponics and hydroponics are not biological systems.

Hydroponics allows for chemicals, these are not "bio" derived or "bio" friendly. Aquaponics is "bio" but it is specific to fish. This is not. Plus they require mined minerals when heavy feeding plants are grown. Plus it's a combo system that requires careful consideration of fish, which is an impediment to optimal plant growth. The nutrient are NOT derived from compost "tea" this is biomass leachate. Tea's are dry-composted leafy matter, added to water and aerated and fed with sugar. This is done to multiply compost microbes - not increase nutrient load. Composted organic matter has lost most of it's nutrient content. Good for microbes, not much for concentrating nitrogen.

This is amazing but how do you deal with proper levels of iron, calcium, and potassium, as these are almost always lacking in aquaponics?!
@bioponics
@bioponics 6 жыл бұрын
That's specifically why working with biomass is solution to deficiencies in aquaponics. We create blends with high minerals for heavy feeding plants and flowering or rapid growth. Otherwise, most biomasses have similar mineral content to fish, and humans. So it' doesn't take much correction if any in most cases.
