SO very grateful to you Professor. I am taking medical microbiology right now & after not having done any of this in many years, you have made it very simple to get back into, and explained so much very clearly. I am very grateful. Thank you.

If it weren't for your great, in-depth, thorough tutorial on your staining procedures/techniques, I don't what I would do in my microbio class, considering that my professor NEVER ever shows us how to do anything. He just tells us about what we are doing very briefly, and I learn by Seeing and Doing. I just really love your video, because it has helped me to understand this a whole lot better...thank you. :)

I'm happy I came across this video. Well explained, makes me understand what the purpose of an acid-fast stain is used for.

so my professor doesn't want us to steam it and the lab manual does say to steam but i can't seem to get a good stain. after we fix the bacteria the procedures just tell us to let the carbolfuschin sit for 10 minutes. i follow all the instructions to a t and its not working for me

can we use other than safranin as a counterstain in gram stain?
@aarnoman10888 жыл бұрын
+NSMS _sm97 You can use Carbol Fuchsin as a counterstain, resulting in bright purple-purplish black G+ve cells, and bright pink-fuchsia coloured G-ve cells.

I wish all of these so-called "lecturers" could be more like you. They are called Dr. or Prof. something... but they are actually a bunch of stupid people who don't know how to teach. You are an example of a good teacher. Thank you.

My professor does NOT want us using papertowels on the workbench, especially for blotting our slides, as they are not sterile. Just sayin'.

Lacking, compared to my professor this instruction video falls short.
@sarahogate59907 жыл бұрын
It's just a short tutorial on how to perform the stain. If you want a full lecture on the topic, you should be looking for a video that is 30mins +

No, this is a quality not a quantity issue. My instructor went over this in a similar amount of time and set the bar much higher. Mind you I no longer remember the details I based my comment on (would've been nice if I had made a list for the community). Not to offend the creator. I in fact appreciate the sharing of these videos ,although, i believe the best ones should get the most praise.

Tsk tsk! informative but very sloppy lab technique! No lab coat, and she continuously touches her gloved hands to her face and hair as she adjusts her goggles. Also does not maintain a zone of sterility. For a video demonstrating the handling of pathogenic bacteria this is very irresponsible!
