I must have watched at least 50 of your videos over the last couple of weeks! Thank you so so much, you've made me feel less anxious about my upcoming assessments !!! So clearly laid out and explained and I always like the summary you do at the end.

Hey, im not 100% sure but i remember something about chlorine molecules being released out of presynaptic neurone while acetate and choline diffuse in so balance out electrochemical change. I haven't seen that in this video and I'm wondering if i am wrong @biorach

Conversion acetyl and choline to acetylcholine occurs inside matrix of mitochondria or outside or between membranes?

How do acetycholine and acetate diffuse back into the presynaptic neurone? Do they diffuse through the membrane, through channels? The diagram looks like they get endocytosed. Is this receptor-mediated?
@BioRach
@BioRach 3 жыл бұрын
I'd suspect it would be via endocytosis or channel proteins, given the size and likely charges.

Cheers for the video, very clear and helpful, I think you’ve spelled synapses wrong in the title unless that’s an American spelling, thanks

Hey, at 4:30 - 4:40 range, Do Ca2+ voltage gated channels open because the membrane becomes depolarised or polarised? Sorry i can't understand it clearly
@BioRach
@BioRach 3 жыл бұрын
Ca2+ channels open when the membrane is depolarised - which is when an action potential arrives!

I have a quick question. Wouldn't the ACh be released from the cell surface membrane via exocytosis as its a vesicle being released from the presynaptic neurone?
@BioRach
@BioRach 2 ай бұрын
Yes that is correct :)
