@@DoctorInk20 how do you know that? He only says my child as a fact I think. I don't think there was any sentiment in what Ryan did, but I'd be interested to see how you've concluded that ☺
@DoctorInk204 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealJDC Yeah, in hindsight I probably shouldn't have phrased that as a fact. XD Well since you ask, here's how I see it: Ryan, despite his jealousy of Fontaine's success and lack of hard evidence on the smuggling, was resolute in sticking to his principles of objectivism and free enterprise. He knew Fontaine was guilty, but he couldn't prove it, so he had to grudgingly bear it. Now, it makes sense to me that Ryan - a man of such colossal ego - would be broken not just by his greatest rival taking his position as Rapture's top dog, but by taking _his flesh and blood._ _His progeny and legacy._ Fontaine exploits the system to get under Ryan's skin and it works. He snaps. He may not be _overtly_ sentimental, but he's still human and that's a bridge too far for anyone. Why else would Ryan have *murdered* Jasmine Jolene? He could have just angrily walked out and left her. But considering the circumstances, he's a man at the end of his tether. A man trying desperately to keep control of his dream. A man betrayed by someone close to him, when he was already paranoid about everyone being in Fontaine's pocket. At that point, it's no longer business. Now it's personal. Ryan takes down Fontaine, 'nationalises' Fontaine Futuristics and kills two birds with one stone: He's got the ADAM and reasserts control _and_ he can secretly go looking for his child (or what's become of it), but runs into a dead end. The Civil War breaks out and has to focus on keeping Rapture from imploding. Then two years later, some gaddabout in a jumper with a wrench shows up causing havoc. Sure, Ryan initially thinks Jack's an agent or a looter, but after the submarine explodes, you see his thinking change. He starts piecing together a bigger picture. Then you get to _the "Would You Kindly" room._ The notes, photos, audio logs, everything Ryan could find regarding his child come together with Atlas's radio messages to Jack. He clearly knows what's been said and finds a pattern: _the phrase._ The same phrase that he knows was used on his child. An unsentimental man would not have any bones about killing a random stranger. But his son? Not on your life. Sorry this was so long. XD

Regardless of what progressive intellectuals will blather ceaseless about in their red brick, Ivy League towers, capitalism has not been a cornerstone of American life since Coolidge. Like Andrew points out, our National religion is the mandatory carrying of the poor on the backs of the successful, regardless of how they got there (half the country doesn’t even net contribute to tax revenue). I don’t find it surprising at all you’ve never heard of Rand. Certain parts of the left think she’s what they call a “reactionary” and therefore hated. those weren't the only lines where he warns us of what's really going on. before, in smuggler's hideout, he doesn't say anything that suggested he knew that Atlas' "Family" was in the sub, Ryan thought you were going to use the sub to escape. he even outright calls you an assassin. (which you are). and earlier in Hepheatus, Ryan states how improbable it is for a plane to crash land right by the lighthouse that serves as the only entrance into rapture from the surface, with nothing but ocean for MILES, just by chance. especially when you already know Ryan went to GREAT lengths to keep Rapture a secret from everyone.

The very first time I played the game, it took me until I was about halfway through to even notice that he had an accent, and after I noticed it, I never could not again. It's subtle and a very very good one. The more you think about, the more awesome you realize how awesome Armin did as a performance. You can hear the Russian accent come out slightly when he's ticked off, but most of the time he sounds American, which, given he only spent his childhood in Russia, which was probably.. let's say 10 years. So according to the official wiki, since during the events of Bioshock, it is 1960, and he fled to America in 1919, we can estimate his age to be around 51. So 41 years in America, and around 10 years in Russia, long enough to pick up the Russian accent in Russia, and long enough for it to fade to the point it only comes out sometimes now.
