It's so weird looking back at this. Something i noticed that i never did before (but it explains why the luteces and Elizabeth talked so down to Comstock in Burial at sea) when Booker realized he sold Elizabeth the interesting thing is that he didn't apologize to Elizabeth, but instead blamed Comstock for his actions. Like it explains the issue with Booker/Comstock and why he almost "had to die" at the end, because in a weird way despite everything both sides could not accept that they were at fault and their problems had to be taken out on someone else. It isn't even because Booker didn't know that he was Comstock because in truth that shouldn't matter at all because that wasn't the issue... The issue was that Booker possessed the character trait of someone who would sell his daughter and upon realizing that still could not change. And in the whole game where we play as Booker we learn that he really was in essence always a bad person. Like we learn about his violent past and even in the present with Elizabeth she herself comments and is shocked at the level of his own brutality, even if it was instrumentalized for her protection at the core both Booker and Comstock are both violent people and or dangers to Elizabeth. Hence why the true baptism and his redemption and repentance is at the end of the game where he accepts his flaws for the first time and never put them on anyone else. And he "died" or did he simply change? And was reborn, given another chance as that last Comstock at burial at sea? Because despite everything, at burial at sea, unlike the other's Booker/Comstock changed because he genuinely felt remorse and in fact apologized for what he did wrong. Just my take, but his death at burial at sea i think was unjustified and had nothing to do about his end but and was more about the beginning of the tragedy of Elizabeth repeating the sins of her father

I would agree with most of what you said, except for the Burial at Sea part. But first, what I agree with is: in the main game, we see that no matter what happens, Booker still posssess those evil traits and the potential for becoming a monster. Remember Rosalind talks a lot about probability and when she and Robert appear to the player, they explain constants and variables. One constant is Booker's potential for great evil out of guilt for his sins. If he becomes Comstock, he becomes a dictator and destroyer of mankind, setting himself up as a god of sorts but being destroyed by his hubris and self-righteousness. If he remains Booker, he sells his daughter and is racked with guilt and avoidance of consequences. But he has the potential for doing some good. In the end, most of the Bookers do choose the sacrifice option. Why? Because even though they remained Bookers, they can still become Comstocks at any point. It's in his nature and he can't overcome it. The variable is choice. Which brings us to Rapture. We have one Comstock that escapes and flees to Rapture, becoming Booker again, claiming to do penance for his sins. In reality, he's simply running from his guilt and refuses to accept the consequences of it. This is another constant in all Bookers/Comstocks. Elizabeth and the Lutece Twins track him down. Now, if Elizabeth was keen on ending it, she would have killed him immediately. But she doesn't. Why? Well, to me, I think she and the Luteces were conducting an experiment. That experiment was whether Comstock/Booker was capable of genuine change. Hence the ruse with Sally. If he proved he could change and overcome his brutality and running from responsibility traits, then this would mean there would be a variable Booker/Comstock that was capable of redemption. But it doesn't happen. Realizing this, Elizabeth and the Luteces arrange for him to die at the end, breaking the cycle as the last Booker/Comstock has been removed from existence. His death is completely understandable from that point of view. Burial at Sea part 2 does examine Elizabeth falling into the sins of her father, but the difference here is that Elizabeth possesses genuine good inside of her. She does actually try to help people, take responsibility for her actions, and face her fears head on. Although she is hardened by the world and her training across the multiverses at this point, she still retains her own sense of morality. Remember this would be probably a decade or two after the events of Infinite if we look at her age alone. And it's possible during that time she may have been travelling, studying, and training under the Luteces as Elizabeth developed similar abilities and had read their published books. Robert, at least, would have felt they both owed Elizabeth for their role in what happened so I'm fairly certain this is why the Twins would have helped her in Burial at Sea. The business may be resolved, but there will always be a connection between them. In a way, all of the main characters are seeking redemption in a way. And before I forget: a constant with Elizabeth is that she always becomes the Lamb. The variable is whether she becomes a Lamb of destruction (Comstock's follower) or a Lamb of salvation and sacrifice (dying to save the innocents of Rapture). In the latter she finds her redemption.

The Luteces’ opening banter in the rowboat is some incredible foreshadowing that you really can’t appreciate until a second playthrough.
