The richest of men fall and will do things that surprise people. I once knew an older man that would come and check out all the garbage sheds in a townhome community where I lived and look for bottles to take to the depot. He looked poor and acted poor and we would leave our bottles outside the shed for him the night before garbage day and one day my dad asked him if he would like to join us for Thanksgiving one day and he said oh no, I don’t do this to support myself, he was very successful in life and lived in a huge home with his family but the reason he does the bottle collection is because all the funds he gets from that have been giving to the local school board so they could fund extracurricular activities for the students. We were absolutely stunned at this and I’ve never forgotten him. Not everyones story adds up but the outcome is what matters.

I think it's just insanely difficult to leave a foreign country when u have litterally nothing, no ID, money, smartphone, etc. Especially for an older guy like him where he could struggle with technological stuff required to get his ID verified. I linked these videos to a friend of mine who works as a forensic linguist. He said this man has quite obviously spent a few decades in Great Britain based on his grammar, vocabulary and the expressions he uses. He estimated the man is roughly 60-65 years of age and must have moved to England at the age of 35-40. This would mean he probably left Germany around 1990-2000 with the highest likelihood being at the mid range of that estimate, so roughly 1994-1996. He introduced himself as "Pete" due to his lengthy English background, but is likely named "Peter". Based on his linguistic ability he estimated him to have a university level education. Peter may have left the the United Kingdom very recently. It is very difficult to determine if he suffers from any mental illnesses or substance abuse as his inflection may simply have been affected by his poor living conditions, malnutrition, age and health, but in practically all similar cases there exists and underlying medical or psychological reason for this situation. Based on recent statistics, roughly 45% of homeless people have some sort of mental illness, and 64% have substance addictions.

At this age, his wife couldve died or he was going to be bancrupt etc. You never know what happened in another persons life that they dont want to go back to their homeland. I can emphazise with that, since i dont want to go back to my homeland aswell, due a lot of trauma. Maybe he has the same reason?
