Last xmas I asked my 2 kids (both under 10 years old) if we could give money to people who really needed it than buying them presents and they agreed. Waking them from school last week there was a young man with mental health problems asking for food outside Sainsbury's supermarket. I asked my kids if we could give them some of their xmas present money and they agreed. When I gave the young man £20 his eyes started to glisten with tears and exclaimed: "But that is too much!". I told him that it was from my 2 kids next to me and he looked at them and was lost for words. This was all inspired by BI> Thanks to BI Phakathi.

I'm certainly not a religious person. However, it fascinates me to see those that have found their spiritual path in such a genuine way. I'm usually cynical about people that have stories of past negative life choices that fail to recover over long periods of time. Perhaps it's my privilege of having somewhere to turn. It might be the luck of having a family that cannot accept a single reason to turn their backs on me. It could be that my exposure to these lives via internet stories like this, subconsciously (or consciously), force me to make decisions that are going to keep me out of these situations. Plus, I feel that my mental health is still robust. I love a great ending to a story. It's always touching to see these stories turn around and people getting their lives back, with the kind acts of a stranger. Money doesn't solve all problems, yet it definitely can alleviate stress and anxiety to allow someone to shift focus on their priorities. A place to sleep, a warm meal, a shower, some clean clothes....stuff most people don't ever have to worry about. I don't pray. I do have a hope that folks in these predicaments are able to overcome, either by faith, by charity, by luck, or will or intervention of sorm sort. Cheers to YOU, Bl Phakathi, and your mission.
