As I watched this delightful art lesson I became amazed at the lupines that were a gathering of women in the background and the emergence of a kangaroo in the right-hand bottom corner.

Another winner from you, Lindsay! Can't wait to try this. Your tips on how to handle the brush, how to wet the paper, let it dry/dry it yourself, blend colors....so, so helpful to those of us that are novices. Thanks!

I painted from seven, till I was 21, some difficult things happened and I stopped, only now at 31 do I have the courage to try again, and it's not like a bicycle I've lost so much talent, but your videos give me the courage to just have fun , thank you! Truly thank you! I'm painting a card a day, and I'm not stopping.

Lovely painting, Lindsay. The Bluebonnet (a beautiful blue with white tipped lupine) is the Texas state flower. You can see hundreds of fields of Bluebonnets while driving through the state in the Spring. The fields are also a favorite place for family photos.

I am so glad you have so many videos! Every time I think I must have exhausted your watercolor library, new ones pop up in my suggested list. I've only just started watercoloring, after not arting all all (except writing) since I was a teenager. In addition to some basic color blending exercises, I also tried my hand at your raspberry and cattail paintings. It's so much fun, even if they look very elementary! And it feels really good to let out some artistic feelings...because even if I write a lot, sometimes you need to be able to express yourself without words. Anyway, thank you SO much for all these videos!

Anyways, I've been a longtime viewer, and I credit you for getting me into card-making AND watercolors..I very much appreciate your hard work to bring us your beautiful artwork and ideas that somehow you explain concisely enough to fit it into bite-sized fast moving videos. I'll start watching the full sponsor ads and make some more purchases from your sponsoring companies to help you to keep doing all these great things for us. Bless you for helping that poor, tormented bird! Love your painting. Can't go wrong with birches or lupines. Just FYI, as a bird lover (and cat liker, too) here is a note from the ABC on the dangers of outdoor and feral cats. Incredible impact for such a cute house pet! From the American Bird Conservancy: "Cats and Birds: A Bad Combination Outdoor domestic cats are a recognized threat to global biodiversity. Cats have contributed to the extinction of 33 species and continue to adversely impact a wide variety of other species, including those at risk of extinction such as Piping Plover. The ecological dangers are so critical that the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists domestic cats as one of the world’s worst non-native invasive species." After my first cat was hit by a car I vowed to never have another outdoor cat again. On that note...happy painting!

Lindsay, would you recommend a set of pan watercolor paints that are very affordable. I have never tried to watercolor but would like to give it a try. I love watching you. You make it look tooooooo easy and I know it isn't. I do not want to spend a lot of money for something that I may not like or able to do. I know you have made a lot of video's reviewing different brand but I don't recall any that would be considered beginner paints.....of coarse I haven't even begin to view all of your videos ......yet. I'm working on it. I appreciate any help you might be able to give me. Thank you. Linda

Because I'm new to this, this is going to sound like a stupid question. The #140 paper that I bought seems too thick to make cards. Is there a difference in the thickness of #140.Strathmore watercolor cards? Where could I order the cards. No craft stores near by and the super Walmart near me doesn't carry Strathmore or any card stock at all.

I don't think I've ever seen these flowers before so that might skew my comment a bit lol. For most of the video (up until the last 30 seconds) I was just thinking 'man this looks like such a mess of a painting' but then I looked away for a few seconds and back to it, then the painting really came out as a whole. I guess that just proves that if you're looking so closely at something, it can seem like things just aren't going well until you have a break!

Dear Lindsay. How would I use craft acrylic paints with foam stamps? Would I water down the paint, or use it undiluted. Should I use dye or pigment ink? I have a photo box full of stamps that I bought for my grandkids that I don't know how to dress up into adult images. I think they are foam, but they seem kind of hard for that, so I don't know. If I sent you a few at your office or shop address with an SASE, would you be willing to look at them and tell me what they are and how to use them? I know you are so very busy, but this would help me decide whether to keep them or just toss them. Am I the only Grandma or Mom with left over stamps bought for children? A possible tutorial? I understand if you don't have time. Thanks! Dee.
@thefrugalcrafter9 жыл бұрын
Deirdre Powers try them with acrylic paint (use a make-up sponge to tap it on) and stamp on any surfave or you can use them with any inkpad on paper. Experiment! I really only use foam alphabets and generic designs and not all that often.

A cautionary tale of watercolor cards: Recently I made a super cute Christmas card using a Strathmore watercolor card. I taped down all 4 sides, to give me a nice white boarder, unfortunately, when I removed the tape, yes, you guessed it, my card opened on the left hand side! Ruined! So, either mark what side is up or just use clamps like Lindsay suggests. The best one out of the bunch, and I can't use it! Bummer.
@thefrugalcrafter5 жыл бұрын
Oh that happens a lot! Simply cut off the painting and glue it on a cardstock card base. You can still use it.
