I posted here a few days ago but my comment seems to have vanished so I will try again. I was trying to say something like this; Shame you didn't like the paint. If it was me I would have kept and used the paint as I wouldn't want to waste money. Been there, done that. Some years ago I was curious about an 18 half pan set that was £25. I waited until it went down to £9.99 and bought it. The paints are chalky and don't seem to have much pigment. There was no colour swatch and set has three greens that were placed next to each other so it was difficult to tell them apart. I took the pans out of the palette, rearraged them and pasted them into another plastic box so I can now see what I have. However, I don't use them much because they are not as good as the Winsor and Newton or Pretty Excellent palettes I have.

So excited for World Watercolor month. I’ve even sent the info to my hubby & sister in law to see if they want to paint along as well. Plus I ordered a coffee mug with your popsicle painting. 😊😊😊

Thank you for encouragement. This is a good way to start the Summer. I would try to find another pottery shop in another town. You might have a better experience somewhere else. I get it about the weird vibes when things are uncomfortable when dealing with a business. You don't want a repeat of the same exact experience. We are in a heat wave here in PA. It's finally Summer! Take care. Have a good weekend.

For the little squares in the back it might be a little labor-intensive but you could sew or glue them with spray adhesive to a bigger piece together and make a quilted pattern carrying case for your travel palette or pencil bag or a patchwork cover for a travel Journal so many options for the little pieces or junk journal page girl the possibilities are endless 😅😊❤ you just gave me so many ideas now I kind of want one of those books play with all the material fabric😂

I love this deer and the style you used! I was intrigued that you said some of the colors granulate; I looked it up and you're right; some do have PBk11. The Ecru Beige, interestingly, is made from Prussian, PY42 and white, so it must be a granulating PY42. And yeah, the cobalt turquoise is a hue made from phthalo blue and PY3 + white. Very impressed with how you lifted that butterfly and redid it!!

Thursday, halfway to visit family my mom realized she forgot a skein of yarn for a blanket she was crocheting. Well long story short we stopped at a Joann's, huge clearance throughout store and I found a Derwent inktense #1 pan set for $13. We have already planned on stopping at another location on the drive home.😄

I kept thinking about Rosie the riveter the whole time I watched your video. 😀 Your little pallet holsters were cute. I don’t paint, don’t have pallets, so did not watch that video. But now I’m planning on watching it because I think it could be useful to use for other things. I have a bunch of leather scraps I bought at a Viking festival so I already have material.

THAT'S HOW my minimalist journey began last year after decluttering. My art room has been the last place for me to tackle, I have supplies for so many different art mediums and found that I didn't like some things I've tried but I spent the money so I need to use it or keep it. I finally decided that I'll feel better if I give it to someone else that can use it and then I don't give to look at it and feel bad about it anymore and I can concentrate on the art I really want to get better at or already love making. I think I'm gonna look for that book to read now too. I had to have a heart to heart with fantasy Terry so I understand what you mean. Have a great week, stay hydrated.
@thefrugalcrafterКүн бұрын
I think it's a conversation to have often. It's easy to slip and start over collecting for our fantasy selves, but I figure my future self would rather have more cash in the bank and less stuff in the house.

Hullo Lindsay, I have been thinking about those very small sample squares. I believe that you can create a “quilt” of these for a larger palette/sketchbook carrier! So create a pattern of the small pieces and sew them onto a sheet of cotton or felt or any substrate then turn that into an excellent carry-all! Or as a multi-surface palette pouch! Thank you for sharing all of these ideas with us. If I was looking for a place to help me fire my pottery I would run an AD in the local paper or the free hand out sheet from the grocery store, do you have those in Maine? Ask for a local potter who has a kiln and ask what they might charge you? Trade art for kiln time? I bet there are plenty of people that have kilns sitting in the garage and you helping them get it in action can work for you both! Please take care, be safe and enjoy your weekend!

This is a great tutorial! I recently purchased a couple of travel cases with plein aire or longer flight art time opportunities in mind. But mine are slightly larger (and closes with a zipper so you don’t lose anything) both open flat and can are easily carried. “We” need to figure out how to make these with sturdy with (metal not plastic) zippers. They are a bit pricey, and they are extremely durable, almost military grade, pouches (which I find myself grabbing daily). If you want an idea of my portable studio (a carry over lifestyle from my days as a college art instructor) keep reading! The larger one (6x10x2”) has two interior pockets (one side has a sketchbook, the other side holds my Schminke retro mini w/c palette and Art Toolkit (the larger size) palette (filled with Daniel Smith w/c). Each side also has several other smaller pockets (still on the inside, but sewn to the pocket not the exterior fabric) which holds a mini spray bottle, syringe (for filling various water or ink pens), a double sided Art Toolkit credit card sized palette (one side for gouache/one for watercolor), a leather pouch with 4 travel brushes, a pencil, black pen, brass nib dip pen, several paint brushes, a 1”x 1/4” case that holds a kneadable eraser, and a recycled mio bottle that carries water and fills several pens (thanks for that great idea!). The smaller one (4x6x2”) holds drawing supplies: Four sizes of mechanical pencils, and refill leads (2B, 4B) for each, 4 types and sizes of permanent black drawing pens, a set of artists woodless leads (white, sepia, black, etc), erasers (white plastic, sanded kneadable, Tombow mono zero), 6” ruler, Art Toolkit (credit card sized) mini palette, two water brushes and a travel (flat) brush.

Lovely Sat chat as always! I wonder if a local high school or college has a ceramics class with a kiln that would allow people use it for a fee? Though the idea of making pottery just for the process and not the final product sounds so fun!
