Chums are a fun fight atleast Do you keep pinks or chums?

They are still very fun to catch. We keep them when we feel like we'll be low on salmon for the year. We make a couple fish a month for our dog. She loves it! We grill it with no added spices and pick ALL bones out. We store it in the freezer in jars and take a jar out every now and then to sprinkle over her dog food.

Do you floss for the pinks, silvers, and dogs? Planning on heading out soon but only ever fished Reds. I’ve heard they will bite so just curious how to rig? (Aside from the Russian river fly - I’ve got about of hundred of those haha)

You can floss them all for sure. Many people will tell you all salmon will hit a fly. In my experience the fresher they are, the more likely that to be true. In this case, bird is super close to the salt water, and the three salmon you mentioned are more likely to bite, so these fish tend to be easier to bite.

Are y'all flying fishing. If you buy your fishing license can you keep anything or you have a certain amount for a certain fish can you please tell me

We were fly fishing, yes. Right now you can keep 3 total. There will be silvers, pinks, and chums to fish for in this river. If you accidentally hook into a spawned out king it must remain in the water and be released.

@@RobinJones-ow9oz no problem. They are all edible, though the pinks and chum salmon are the least favorite filleted fish. Pinks are usually what you are eating when you have canned salmon from the grocery store.

Why not keep a chum? They are good when fresh like that

Totally agree with you. I have what I need for fish at the moment, with the exception being a couple silvers. I don't like to overstock the freezer for the sake of telling everyone I caught x amount of fish this season.

Can i ask why floss for these fish in a creek like this? Pinks, chums, and silvers are known to be aggressive and don't need to be flossed.

Totally good question. If I'm down there super early or late at night when I don't expect a bunch of people to be there I'll swing for them. This time of day and how nice it was I was expecting to be there around a bunch of people. It's easier to fill in a tight spot flossing.
