Agree. I detailed a black one a few months ago. It was ten years old but I couldn't believe how good the paint still was. I didn't polish it, just a decon, and shampoo, then on with some ceramic sealant. The paint was gleaming and it was so easy.

I did one of those last fall. The H9 on a blue KC HDO pad just did so nice in it. Then couple of passes with M302 on the purple KC pad. Man it came out nice. Then coated with Art Deshine. Came out awesome. Love how well the H9 finishes out! Too bad they didn’t get you to at least enhance it.

Had a similar issue with a customers car just yesterday. Dark color car that had a couple bird bombs that baked into the clear. They had clearly been left there for a long while because it almost looked like some of it was still there, even after a wash. Definitely learned my lesson to do a more thorough walk around before beginning the process.

my quick solution for bird drops is ONR and two mf towels. :) ONR easily lift up a drops and I can remove it safely :) :) I use a Koch Chemie Green Star 1:10 as my APC rinse and I call Gs a "Dirt eater" :D nice video and greetings from Slovakia Phil :)

Years ago I got a whole glob of bird poop on driver's side window pillar ? Had to be the typical black birds that are here , constantly . My stupidiity was to go through the drive thru car wash . Where spots of paint came off . Lesson learned , to now use a garden hose with nozzle on lowest setting and just keep . Spraying water on it until it would drop off . And anything lft over to use any various special cleaner and microfiber towel .

nice job Phil & Jess, i found best thing against bird bombs -- very good surface protection, so they slide straight off!! Recently finished a spring polish on the Outback and completed with AM Hybrid Sealant and Infinity Wax's SuperGloss+ Spray Wax, so nothing sticks. Maintenance washed with Hybrid Shampoo and using Hybrid Detailer as drying aid and tops up protection. 👍good polishing/pad tips Phil. Highly recommend mixing some decon shampoo (i use Garage Therapy) with snow-foam (AM Foam or IW Powerfoam), for some good pre-wash cleaning.

I always keep detail spray and nice soft towel in my cars. Just in case. Birds always dropping bombs. Distilled water in spray bottle works great too. Just pinpoint spray and hit poop. Plus it's will not leave water spots behind.

I bought 3d presoak. It's similar to bilt hamber touchless but it's super dilutable. You can dilute it up to 1:1800. And only use a 0.25-0.5 ounces per foam cannon.

Hey guys question for you I noticed on this Volvo it doesn’t have a standard gas cap. When it is just a door flap covering the nozzle do you guys shy away from blasting water in that area because of water maybe going in gas tank? Hi. Yeah we are always careful around capless gas fills. They are sealed really well anyway, it’s not like they are just open. But yeah always being careful around those. Yes Speed 3 is perfect for wax application.

We love surfex hd in Europe. We pay...15-16 GBP for 1,5 gallons. ( In Europe we traditional dont like so much thick foams but more runny but strong foams, that is why is common to Eu brands...dont foam so much their products ...BH, Koch , e.t.c,)

Seems like ONR and a microfiber would definitely remove it but wouldn’t it be more effective to neutralize it also if not washing it right away? Hi. If your not going to wash right and just want to remove the bird poop itself using onr or even an apc diluted 1:10 will neutralize the acidic poop. But that can compromise any wax or sealant you have applied. Washing it right away is even better. Without using chemicals.

How would you remove bird droppings on coated car hot day if you can’t wash the car right away a waterless wash ? Also from your experience what car brands have harder clear coat where polishing doesn’t give much results as softer clear coat? I have a Audi now that is super hard clear coat no results from one step however a Japanese car seems to be softer and polish in one step

Yeah that would be a good option. Use a waterless wash and soak the dropping and then use a damp towel to gently scoop it up. Clear coat hardness or softness is hard to tell in general becasue each yeah, make and model can differ. But generally speaking German paints have been known to be harder and Japanese and American paints are medium to soft. But never judge clear costs just from brands. Always do a test spot to determine that. 😎👍🏼

Do you ever clay bar and then just apply a spray sealant? That's my typical process and I'm wondering if I should be using a machine applied product to get out the marring? I have used 3d speed applied quick as a wax and that always seems to look nice and not take too long.

Hi. If it’s a light colored car and if there was hot heavy grit that required aggressive clay barring than yes we will sometimes just use a spray sealant. But we examine the paint and determine if the clay marred it enough for us to justify a machine applied sealant instead. 😎👍🏼

Also, in your opinion, do you think those etchings were mainly the result of 1) no paint protection 2) soft paint 3) just not removing the bird bomb in a timely manor?

Hi. Yeah they used napkins or paper towels I believe😬. It’s soft paint already and as you may know, so it led to some disastrous results! 😭 we see it a lot here. Most people just don’t know how sensitive their paint is and they attack it in the wrong way. But it’s cool….keeps us busy! 😁😎👍🏼

A fallout remover and APC. To keep them clean just brush and APC clean them and protect with a ceramic sealant or similar. Personally, for heavy dusting of wheels I use a dedicated wheel cleaner or a strong TFR solution (caustic if necessary).

We usually just use an apc like super clean 1:10 to clean the wheels if they are not to bad if they already have protection on them we just use the soap we used on the vehicle.

* Any suggestions would be appreciated * I recently polished my Type R with an orange lake country pad and Sonax perfect finish. I don't have major defects or scratches. Mostly Love / Swirl/ Clay marks but that combo wasn't enough. What would you guys suggest as the next step up in aggressiveness? I was trying to avoid using a harsh cutting pad and strong cut liquid. I'm shocked I didn't get the results with that combo. Honda is known for having soft paint. I was thinking for a pad at least to change to the Meguiar's Micro Fiber cutting.

Yeah true, usually Honda paint is soft. What color was it? You could always kick up to a slightly more aggressive polish with the same pad. Perfect finish my be to gentle. What other polishes and compounds do you have?

How many passes? May need another pass on the tough spots. Try a small area, if no go try Griots BOSS Fast Correcting Cream on the orange pad.

If you've got more Sonax products, try Cut and Finish. It's literally one step up in cutting power. If that doesn't remove the defects then use it in combination with a medium or medium/fine pad, rather than a soft one.

I think the customer would have been better off coming to you folks first to remove bird poop. I had a white truck here last year with orange iron spots on it, and he tried removing it with Lava hand cleaner with pumas. Yeah! I just love hearing you folks reactions.
