Well we got 22 eggs this morning from my free range wild hens. They come to eat at 40 and spend the night in an old dog kennel. When I let them out in the morning to run around in the jungle they eat bugs. So glad we don't live over there where the new flu is. lol

I think these bird flu in the chicken farms tend to happen where the migration patterns typically occur. Not always. Pretty soon, you might be able to sell those eggs to grocery stores and make a half deep profit. Same about chickens.

The sad thing is that once these prices go up they may never come back down, even after the problem is solved. Sometimes I think these things are just excuses for exorbitant price hikes on consumers, so that way it seems excused and we all just shut up and accept it. I'm waiting on Swine flu to follow suit, and then Bovine encephalitis.

Trying to start another pandemic? Another question i have is , did we have the bird flu before the mandated cage- free chicken? do they spread more if you are caged or not caged? If they are caged, does the flu spread more? do you still have the kill all the chickens?

Avoid bird flu. Avoid the high price of eggs by learning to eat differently. I now use bananas or applesauce for making baked goods. My budget doesn't include eggs anymore and I've learned to live without eggs.

Perhaps we should examine the way the chickens are farmed. The conditions in the big commercial chicken and egg barns is appalling and seems like it would be conducive to the birds being unhealthy and to the spread of disease between the birds. Just a thought. Try to source your eggs from a small local farm or neighbor that keeps chickens perhaps.

I think he could have said "domesticated animals" since the large flocks/herds of them increases the likelihood of transmission and mutation. And in all fairness the more humans group together the more they resemble domesticated animals from a disease standpoint. Kids in school is a great example.
