Hi, Trond, and thank you for your excellent videos. As you mention, the common redstart is now considered to be a member of the Old-world flycatcher family (Muscicapidae). It is a chat and is more closely related to the European robin, the flycatchers and nightingales. I'm luckier than you; I don't have to trek up into the mountains and get eaten by midges in order to photograph a redstart. I have them breeding, most years, here in my village garden in southern Skåne. I'm only just starting out in wildlife photography (I'm only 70!) so I still have a lot to learn 🤣. I'm already picking up numerous tips watching your videos (your falling down tent-hide had me laughing out loud). All the best.

Stunning images again! I'm after this bird too, here in the Netherlands, but I haven't yet been able to shoot photos as 'simple' as yours, with that beautiful blurred background. Luckily there are no midgets and mosquitos here. I can tell that for sure because if they are around, they know how to find me...

Great video as always! The redstarts are also one of my favourite birds. Is the tragopan tent blocking the insects? I was wondering because the used net isn't that narrow. Regards

Is important to have a tripod and a hide for bird photography in the forests?

Depend on the species. And the weight of your lense, and how long you have to wait.

I so love your videos Trond, they have a meditative quality about them, an escape from all the stuff we have coming at us each day, thanks. I do have a question about your method of focus, do you pre focus manually and leave it there hoping they will land on that spot? Do you use tracking AI on the birds? do you try to focus on eyes?
@trondwestby3 жыл бұрын
wow....thats a great compliment! I use a singel focus point. I pre-focus on that stick, and press the shutter as I see the bird come in.

fantastic shots! the redstart is such a beautiful bird, one of my absolute favourites. i don't know if you know the scientific name, but it is soooo fitting! phoenicurus phoenicurus, it really does look like a little phoenix, doesn't it? the fire, the coal, the ashes, all of it there in the colors of this bird :)

Hai bro..I am watching your videos until one year..I am not a professional photographer like you but I want say one thing your photos all awesome but that background is not natural (greenish) that's only I don't like and please show some beautiful moment of birds not common images ..your photos otherwise all are awesome ..sorry if I am anything say wrong ..waiting for your reply thank u
@tmjcbs3 жыл бұрын

Hi! I am glad you have been with me for a long time. I am not sure of what you mean by "not natural! ?
@rkp99533 жыл бұрын
@@trondwestby thank you for your reply..for example your cover photo bear background is look yellowish ..if that's look greenish that bear will very beautiful..and too much of blur ..this is my opinion
