Bird Song - The Linnet

In the breeding season the cock linnets can be heard pouring out their sweet melody from their favourite singing post on commons or hillsides where there is plenty of scrub and small bushes. In the winter they mix with other finches as they forage for seed on farmland and field headlands and can often be seen in very large groups. They also sing occasionally outside of the breading season.

My late parents said the birds you can hear up here were linnets in the 1970's. I checked and they are, thank you for the recording. (Dawn- August- birdsong on a Welsh hillside)

beautiful sound of the linnet , i remember my mother telling me when she was a girl her grandmother crossed one with a gold finch, its sung its head off all day she had to put a cover over it from time to time to give it a rest , but beautiful song bird
