I live in Dudley, West Midlands (UK) and we are surrounded by cities in every direction. Why am I pointing this out, because there is loads of wild life around me... all you need to do is invite it into your garden and they will come. I feed all bird varieties and they come in numbers everyday for breakfast. Pretty sure we have saved many from starving over the winter periods that have past the last few years... come Spring and Summer and the local area is very much alive with bird song all throughout the day pretty much. Fox and Badgers also visit, though not so much due to our house pets, but they do visit when the lights are off and they do not think people will be watching. New housing estates are the worst though.... very few trees or bushes, so the area is bleached of wild life for many years after that until natural habitat grows back. So wild life is all around you, just needs inviting. Good luck to those who try and your wild friends will appreciate you for it.

As a child, grandparents would get me to sit down and wait a couple minutes before for our cuckoo clock would go off. Lol All of us children would watch and wait in amazement. My grandfather sought out these moments with us and would join in on the simple fun. I see now the true joys of life by remembering this and now joining in with my son in the laughter. Truly the simple joys are the most powerful. I think this is why that sound of the cuckoo is beautiful.

I live in Worcestershire, near to Arley Woods and consider myself extremely lucky to hear the Cuckoo and many other threatened species of songbirds every year. I also love the sound of the Voice throwing Grasshopper Warbler, trying to guess exactly where they are calling from and the Blackcap whose song is so varied and rich, but my favourite is the Blackbird on a late August afternoon with its melancholic lilt. Oh to be in England now that April’s there.

Such beautiful birds! I hear these (also the Yellow-billed) sometimes before wet weather, in summer. And the more tent worms we have, the more likely it is that we will hear the cuckoos, as tent worms are a favorite food of theirs. Thanks to KZbin, now I can finally see how pretty they are, with their big eyes and feathery breast and long waving tail. There is a woodland near where I live where I have heard a whole chorus of them cuckooing back and forth. Like music to me!

What a pretty bird call from this bird it sounds just like a cuckoo clock but did you know this bird is also parasitic too as in it lays it's own eggs inside of other bird nests that has already got eggs in it. They mostly target wrens or black birds or on some occasion house finches. I have never even seen or let alone even heard this bird at all though but what I do hear is traffic and crickets most of the time and sometimes an owl or two now and then or a random dog from somewhere I dunno where else barking at who knows what else kinds of things. Annd maybe a cat fight from feral cats fighting each other at night and during the day it is house finches and finches chirping or tweeting or ring necked turtle dove birds cooing to one another in the morning.
