I have always wanted to get a grouse there rare here in Pennsylvania lots of them in Canada according to my research but me and my friend just found a spot for grouse we kicked one up when driving up for shooting and we were in car so couldn’t get it but then we went again with a shot gun and we got out the car and walked about 50 yards and kicked one up and my friend shot it then he went back with his dad and found 9 more grouse wasn’t hunting for them tho they were just there so I’m gonna go up there with him and bag one or two eat one and mount one hopefully it works out

Hard call. With all the bear fat and high calories you both consumed, I’d assume you both either maintained or gained some. But, you both also burnt a lot of calories as well. I’m going to say ...hmm.. maintained. Nice shot on the bird also. When opportunity arises, and Mother Nature provides it’s almost an insult to pass and decline. I can’t wait for more of these challenges in the future. Keep them coming! :)

I've been wondering something since you've been eating all the apples and I'm sorry if it's already been answered but why do you peel the skins? I know you were saying apples didn't agree with you until this challenge and I was wondering if that's the reason or if it's just easier to down more apples if they're all peeled. I personally like apple skin but HATE that it gets so easily stuck in my teeth.
@TheWoodedBeardsman6 жыл бұрын
Many of them were rotten or rotting so when I peeled I could check for worms and rot. Also didn't want to eat a LOT of fiber which would gas me up in combo with the excess fats.

Always loved your channel, and the production quality is impressive. Keep it up. Would love to see a primitive survival challange at some point too, with an emphasis on not just wild foods but self-created tools made in nature, perhaps with an additional focus on self-sufficiancy and isolation. Realistic? Perhaps not, but if someone were to do it, it would be the Wooded Beardsman!

Drink lots of blood as it has salts. Salt is a big problem so it was traded for historically. Spices are very limited to wintergreen, myrica gal, juniper berries, and a few others not really worth mentioning in this environment. Spices were also in very high demand and traded long distances for good reason. @@T_1357_F

I'm guessing Zac , because he had salt, a lower metabolism , and in ketosis already lost 3.5 lb in 7 days because of change of environment and a slight change in diet. You lost 8 pounds for the change in diet . Less salt to maintain water weight. Though you were keeping you sugars up not enough of the domestic carbs in the western diet. If you both continued this for weeks you would have stabilized. Not enough time to change and then stabilize.
