Come join me for a virtual bird walk at Sandy Camp Rd Wetlands, a haven for bird watchers.
It's got a diverse range of Australian bird species, from butcherbirds, kingfishers, fairywrens, waterfowl, birds of prey and many more!
Those wanting to learn more Australian bird calls, I highlight several calls throughout the video. Plus, there's a few hidden species for you to listen out for :-)

Thank you Rob for another great video. I’m so glad you included some education on the Darter, as if I saw a bird like that on a walk, I would have thought it was in need of rescue. I hope they don’t have too hard a time whilst their feathers are regrowing. Best wishes 😊

No problems at all. There are not many photos online of darters in-moult, so I asked a couple of wildlife carers before publishing the video to confirm this one was moulting. I was relieved to know it was normal 🙂

There is the one and only honey-eating bird in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR - and that is the Fork-tailed Sunbird. This is the time of the year where this bird’s favourite flower is the Bauhinia flowers. The Bauhinia flower is the National Flower of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR.

What a great birding video. It was like birding in Australia without the long trip. It is fun to compare the birds with the one of the same families that we have here in North-East America. Thank you.

Thanks Rob. Funny how you do a quick romp around somewhere I've visited a few times and effortlessly point out everything I've missed up till now. If you're going to South America (as you mentioned) try the Pantanal - 650+ bird species, and much easier to spot than in the rainforest. I spent a lot of time there. Great place for wildlife.

It looks like a quick on the video but it's actually 3 - 4 hours of me chasing birds and waiting for them to be still looking enough to get some decent footage 😅 It took me a few weeks to edit this video, so I've already returned from Chile and Peru. It was fantastic. I'll definitely check out Pantanal next time I'm in that direction. Thanks for the suggestion ☺️

I used to live just up the road from there. I liked to net around the water for small fish to identify, from memory most fish in the area are pests like tilapia and mollys, Ive found a few turtles from time to time. Theirs also a hidden seadoo in the shrub near one of the lakes which you can use to paddle around on lol. I used to use it to plop a yabbie pot out in the middle of the ponds. Funnily enough, I've never caught a yabbie of any sort in that area. but my guess would be theyre of the smaller variety which would fall through the netting. From time to time, after rain you can find the occasional turtle on the paths towards the back areas.
