Thank u so much 4 sharing this epic and supremely crafted home. And now I will turn my attention 2 my own modest cape cod style home and try 2 create some magic of my own.😅🎇

Love it. This is a designated Heritage house, built in 1891. It’s located in one of Toronto’s oldest and poshest neighbourhoods. It’s price is not even listed to the general public (i.e. if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.). My guess is that it’s around $5.5 - $6 million.

The architecture is so beautiful one knows it's an older home but the owner has more than done it justice in ever last room. Traditional furnishings, beautifully decorated, amazing to me. Not to overlook the grounds and gorgeous balconies. A1+++

I had a friend that lived on Walmer, near Casa Loma. The house had a history, to be certain, but mostly looked like it had been a boarding house at one time. The house next door was, so its possible it could have been. I lived in TO for a year and loved every minute.

Lovely house with two drawbacks - the tiny garden and the reduced height bedrooms in the roof space. The ground floor rooms are great
@JohnDretired4 жыл бұрын
What an amazing renovation on this house. It has enough bedrooms, and they aren't postage stamp sized. Beautiful rooms everywhere - nothing was left untouched. About the only thing I can see is - by the time one might be able to afford the $ millions this one costs, you could be approaching the age where stairs, in a 3 story plus basement, might be problematic. A small elevator would have been perfect, although I don't see any particular room or rooms I'd give up for the space required. Perhaps a garage is at the back?

Its so sad that some people will never be able to enjoy the confort of living in a house like this. When I was a child, before falling asleep I would look up and stare at the conrugated cement roof and imagine how great it would be if we had a proper ceiling. How inocent. But sad.

I share your sentiment and have often wished the same thing. But what truly makes a home is the love, respect, compassion and beautiful sacred memories created by the people or persons living there. I share this thinking that if the family I grew up with had this house they would have still displayed the same barbaric cruelty towards me and others. I craved understanding as a child and acceptance. The adults in my family were too poorly developed emotionally and psychologically 2 even consider me as a human being. Funny thing is I've outlived them all and am determined 2 be happy and fulfilled I hope your home as it stands is your sanctuary. Peace and love.

Beautiful historical home tarted up to look like something in a new suburban housing division. Would have preferred an interior with some old charm.
@santogaijin5934 жыл бұрын
It's not that bad. There are still lots of "Arts and Crafts" elements in the rooms and lots of wainscoting and even some hints of Art Deco here and there. I hate it too when old houses with classic, beautiful exteriors are gutted inside to look "modern." But I don't think this particular house is a prime example of that.
@robyndismon3944 жыл бұрын
Please list examples of 'tart' in this home. Where and how did u comec2 that conclusion?
@maryoleary20374 жыл бұрын
@@robyndismon394 All natural wood has all been painted white, with the exception of one 2nd floor room and the wine cellar: furniture and window treatments are ultra modern; light fixtures are not in keeping with the history of the house; ceiling pot lights everywhere, again not in keeping with the home's age; new flooring and carpeting when the original floors would have likely been oak with an inlaid walnut border...that sort of thing. It is like putting skinny jeans and a cropped tank top on an elderly lady. It is best to RESTORE a historical home, rather than renovate it. The decorators have taken away the warmth and charm.
@Fandango5414 жыл бұрын
Tarted up. I love it. Such a useful and descriptive phrase. Some of the old wood paneling, cabinets, etc. were absolutely beautiful. It's only by the grace of God someone told them to 'stop painting everything phuckin white! Ok?'
@Fandango5414 жыл бұрын
@@robyndismon394 Oh, I don't know. Maybe it was the lovely whiteness, or the fact that the furnishings were trying to be so 'modern' they ended looking like plastic pieces designed for Barbie's Dream house. Could that be it? Or maybe it was the fact there was nothing classic in the design and form of the furnishings. Take your pick.
