I don’t know if hitting the sand trap would have been worse! Steve morris, Cleetus, Tom Bailey all recently in the last year hit the traps . They are designed to slow the car down as safely as possible! I’ve seen NHRA pro modified hit the traps in Bristol at 120 and aside from almost running out of trap it safely stopped the car!

If he hadn’t rolled it, he would have hit that sand trap at 100+ I’d argue that the car rolling and sliding on its lid saved him from injury.

He did an interview where he said it's his fault for not putting a strap as suggested by a friend to the rear end from the chutes, the bracket broke off and started the rear wiggle momentum.
