Hypothetically, if you wanted to, could you incubate the canary eggs in an incubator and raise them yourself if you did not have any adults? Just out of curiosity. Also, what nesting materials do you use?

It can be done although I would not recommend it as it is very time consuming and difficult.

You can test the theory about the ducking male canary chicks right now. The pairs with the agate mosaik male wil produce (verigated) agate females and (verigated) non-agate males. So if your theory is correct the non-agate chicks wil duck and the agates wil not. Would love to see this in the next video!

Do you maybe know why my 2 hens won't laying eggs. They breed with males,building nest but 2 weeks and no eggs show up

Have you tryed cuting nails.? That happenend to me too thats whY. The male hurt the female with nails and she will not let him to go for fukl fertilization

No birds for 8 months..no cage either. Had a mite problem. Is it safe to get birds after 8 months of no animals???

Clean with a good kennel cleaner for dogs and cats works very well for sterilizing for anyting from mites to worms

Where did you purchase your cage and nest attachment from?.

The cages and the nest pans I bought from a breeder several years back. Not sure where he bought them from. On occasion I see similar cages for sale on Amazon.

I was always told that you could'nt handle or disturb the chicks because the parents will reject them?

Canaries are really calm when it comes to that. They let you do anything really. Females are really tight sitters. However, other finches are not tho. Other finches will toss the eggs or chicks if you keep disturbing them.

Yes I echo the above response. Some species of birds are passive and allow nest checks or handling of the chicks. Other species are very particular and are quick to abandon if nest checks happen.

Not all parents are good many birds including canaries don't feed thier own chicks if disturbed ..
