Hi, I know they are infertile as generally are most mules and hybrids but occasionally they can randomly be fertile (very rarely) so I was just giving that as an example of what could happen although highly unlikely

Great video. However, remember a species is one which freely breed in nature to produce fertile off spring. In the strict definition fertile hybrids are the same species. If given a long enough time then they would become a new species. There is a good scientific paper looking at why male bullies don’t produce any mules or hybrids.

What disinfectant do you lads use for cleaning out breading cages ???

I use Lavender Zoflora disinfectant. Mite don’t like lavender so the smell helps, use it in small concentrations in a spray bottle and move the birds out the cages

All of the South America siskins produce fertile offspring wen crossed whith canaries like the red siskin,black siskin from Bolivia and the Brazilian goldfinch that is just like the red siskin but in yellow colour,creating some new canarie mutations in recent times like black pearl , there's also a bird in the Iberian peninsula called serinus serinus that looks like a canarie but smaller in size and it's also fertile,I heard a story that they crossed the Spanish breed canaries with serinus serinus to create the Spanish timbrado breed

How can you know if it is fertile? Do you really have to see him jumping on a femelle or even if he try to reproduce he can be sterile ?
