Out in the country my uncles dog Missy about 6-7lbs, was picked up by what they assumed to be an owl, she had claw marks on her but ended up being fine and lived another 10 years. She was a country dog out at night in an open field though, and not a city dog in broad daylight.

Your video sucks. What your experts failed to mention is the damage birds of prey can cause to our pets when they attempt to snatch them. Their talons are like razors. When they try to grab a small dog they dig in with their talons, they can cause life threatening injuries to a small dog. A dog's lungs are positioned behind their neck. The raptor's talons can and have punctured a dog's lungs causing painful injury, high vet bills and even death. Also, birds of prey will grab a small dog, carry it upward and then drop the dog from high up once they realize they can't carry the pet. At that point the pet will sustain serious injuries from the fall. Plus, very large hawks have been reported as carrying away very small chihuahuas like your friend's dog. One lady told me about her chihuahua being picked up by a hawk who then perched on a utility pole across the street with the dog. The poor lady had to stand there, listen to and watch her dog die. If you knew anything about the love of a pet you wouldn't carry that dumb smirk and understand how dreadful that might be. Lastly, it does not hurt anyone to be cautious. To falsely lead people to believe otherwise makes you a moron. Bravo to your friend for protecting his baby. Boo to you for being dumb and spreading false information.

I think the point was that raptors are endangered and dogs aren't. And the chance of attack is pretty small compared to the amount of fear drummed up by people online. She's just trying to help people live with a little less worry and a little more care about their environment. Calling her a moron doesn't help dogs or raptors in the slightest.

@@bertmancuso8869 oh please. There are times when I look up to the sky when I'm walking my dog and I literally see 50 hawks circling us. I wish they were endangered. There is no shortage. Which btw, I immediately pick up my small dog and bring him to a safe spot. And it's not like there's a ton of fear being instilled out there. There should actually be more awareness of the possibility. More than half the people I've talked to had no clue of the risk. If you are caring for another living being you need to worry about their safety otherwise you are negligent. Stop making excuses for ignorant people.
