We have 3 pairs of red cardinals that feed from my backyard feeder every day. Funny, never seen them fight. We have many migratory birds here now. My aunt in Kentucky used to feed red cardinals in Winter, so beautiful against the snow background. I didn't know they stayed in colder weather until it was there for Christmas.

They only fight in the spring, as part of the breeding process

Separate them and give them more time to get to know each other. You need a very large cage too. Send a an Instagram DM!

Yes that is much too small. That will cause them to fight
