Wow, 1 year ago! I remember seeing this video a while ago, and I was inspired to make a bird book, too. I have finished mine now, and it was a fun project. I did learn a few things, things I would do differently now. I made each page with green bits of fabric for my background, but I didn't pay enough attention to contrasting my backgrounds with the birds. Your birds show up really well. I tried to insinuate a bit of each bird's natural habitat without actually fussing about it, so other than the Christmas birds, none are in flight. I relied mostly on stitching on the birds to give them feathers, but I think I would have been better off to choose an better fabric initially. So overall, mine is a bit messy with those "mistakes ", but I still love it. It was a great idea and I'm glad I saw your channel to inspire me.

Hi Lauretta. I have joined your FB group. I’m excited to see what others create with the prompts. Thanks for sharing your thought process on your composition. Deciding on what fabrics to use and where to place them is my favorite stitching step. I like that your doing the seasons in this journal and no pressure. I think the last two pages of the journal will be Christmas for me! Now to decide what size to make my journal. Thanks for doing this! 👍🏻💕👍🏻

Oh this will be fun. I would love to have a kit if not too pricey. I have lots of scraps but it’s always nice to get some new ones. Thanks for hosting this awesome project. I will be participating. I am doing roxysjournalofstitchery and I’m learning so much. I’m a beginner so I’m a bit slow but I’m loving every minute of it. I’m looking forward to starting this new Bird Song adventure. Thanks again. You’re awesome! 💕

Thank you, Teresa! I cut the piece of fabric for the cover about 8 and 1/4 inches by 16 and !/4 inches. Whatever you use to line the inside cover with, felt, an old quilt, batting etc, it needs to be cut about 3/4 of an inch smaller than the cover fabric so that you have enough fabric to wrap it around. Then cut another piece of batting for your middle pages about a quarter inch smaller than the first piece of batting because it will need to be a little bit smaller so that it doesn't hang over the edge when you close the book. I think I went over most of it on the first video I did for this, but I'll go over it again in the next video. Thank you for stitching along! xo

Do you prefer using Felt or cotton batting for the back of your creations?
@sparrowhawkerdesigns2 жыл бұрын
I like both. I prefer cotton batting if I want it to be a little more soft or pliable. If I want it to be a little firmer I'll use felt. But honestly, both are great. Tfw. xo
