Presenter is knowledgeable and informative. Shows the relationship between differing concepts, transitioning to how that relates to errors in transmission and how to overcome them. Even has a quick run-down of the inverse square law with accurate and easy to understand visuals, and shows a few examples of how that is overcome by directing the energy when changing the physical characteristics of the antenna. Lots of general concepts beginners can use to direct their focus on what to study next for self improvement.

This lecture leaves a strange feeling. The author discusses such exotic RF equipment like plasma chambers and heating elements, but never mentioned such a crucial element as *balun* . Reminds of such impedance mismatch problems as wind (lolwut), but forgets to mention that any RF device impedance may differ a lot for different frequencies and almost never hits the standard 50 ( 75, 110, you name it ) Ohms precisely - not least because it's usually a *complex* number, with a significant reactive component. This is definitely bad as a theoretical article.

@@BirdTechnologies Sorry, balun is not an advanced topic. It's literally the most basic thing dividing the unbalanced current from the balanced one, in other words - a coax cable and an antenna. You simply can't build an RF circuit without it. And if you try, you wouldn't be able to tell, where exactly the current is getting converted and what part of your circuit is actually working as an antenna. It may even include the transceiver and its power lines. Connecting an antenna without a balun may totally ruin all of its expected qualities like directional pattern, impedance etc. This component must definitely be discussed way before plasma chambers or heating elements.
