2.4 is alive and kicking, well at least for home and IOT related devices. Once you get out of the cities it becomes completely useable even for 4k streaming, etc. Use 5Ghz of course where possible.

When it comes to refraction: Generally how wide is a wave length ? You mentioned a filing cabinet 🗄️ while the display gives an example of a roof top ? Also what is the size difference between that of say 2.4 opposed to the 5ghz [ if you aren’t sure of exact dimension- Maybe you’d be able to say which is wider over the other (2.4 or 5). ]

Hello, what is controlling power output of the access point? Voltage or amperage? What increases or decreases the transmission power?

wattage.... ie was both... typically voltage is a fixed point due to hardware limitations (now...) so its mainly amperage but it very well can be both. but since almost no-one deals with HV amplifiers now its pretty much always amps now but you really dont even deal with that due to frequency based modulation not amplitude. and if we talking your home wifi set it to the lowest possible setting that still lets you get a signal without issues. eg. my home 2.4/5ghz wifi runs @ 1/4 watt vs the default of 1 watt

The premise for that quick chart is that 10^(0.3) = 2 approxmiately. For increasing 1 dBm we would see that 10^(0.1)=1.25 so we would multiply the original power by 1.25 to increase its strength.

11dBm = 20dBm-3dBm-3dBm-3dBm 11dBm= 100mW/(2*2*2)=100mW/8=12.5mW and 12dBm= 3dBm+3dBm+3dBm+3dBm 12dBm=2mW*2mW*2mW*2mW=16mW
