Yes, but there are different levels involved. These are CITES 2 which means they can be farmed with proper permits. Farmed specimens can be sold to butterfly exhibits and collectors.

They are raised on farms in the tropics and the pupae are sold to butterfly exhibits where they emerge and are released into the exhibit.
