Just a deeply unmusical idea. Put together three instruments that occupy the same frequency spectrum and that can't easily harmonize and you get a recipe for disaster. Especially when both the players and the sound engineers seem to not mind the sonic issues.

I really don't like Bireli Lagrene here and this is a second video today where he plays too loud with wrong tone and feel. It is simply off. After he killed everyone in the first 3 minutes, I couldn't care less about his solo part.

I hope this is a joke ... Nobody is better than Bireli .. said by so many jazz guitarists. Even Django's own son Babik said Bireli might be better than his father. Bireli can play it all, gypsy jazz without question, but also has his own groove and funk and goes into various styles, contrary to Bako always in the traditional style. I agree this video is mediocre .. one of the lesser Bireli performances i've seen.. but i've also seen the video with Bako and Bireli which you are mentioning, and it think you've got it wrong, Bako seems like a newbie being encouraged, everybody is letting him have his moment and do all the soloing .. backstage at the end of a festival.. but his playing is very predictable and angular, only about speed .. Bireli had more feel in his playing when he was 10 years old. In that video Bireli is just chilling, nothing to prove .. Kill the others with a solo ? You should look at the live concert with Bireli and Sylvain Luc. What great guitarists can achieve by experience, musical communication and respect for each other, instead of trying to be the best
