Birka, the Viking City - Sweden's First City

I visited Birka in 2021 and I loved it! It started off warm and sunny when suddenly Thor made an appearance with freezing rain, thunder and lightning! Everyone ran and took all the shelters and I got stuck out in the rain freezing! Afterwards there were little frogs everywhere!

You certainly got an authentic experience then - a close encounter with the actual god during your visit. Too bad about getting caught in the rain though. I hate rainy weather myself...

Very nice. Those models were awesome! Recently I watched the first season of Norsemen on Netflix (yeah I know those guys are Norwegian, not Swedish), a very entertaining and funny series. It also gives you a look in how they lived back then.

Bollocks, oldest vikingtown in Sweden must be Köpingsvik on Öland a couple of hundred years older than the small slave camp on Björkö. There are lots of much older places pre vikingage that are more significant and larger on the island of Öland than the slave camp on Björkö that all can claim being a city, if the small encampment on Björkö can be called one. Feel free to ignore the findings like 99,99% of Swedens historians.
