The window and windshield glasses are meant to be broken during emergency or accident. Sunfilms may make it unbreakable which is dangerous, car manufacturers should start providing atleast UV cut glass as standard. Atleast Baleno Alpha comes with UV cut glass which is a good move.

Hi sir, there is something called laminated glass and tempered glass. Usually OEM uses laminated glasses for windscreen and tempered glass for sides and rear. This is for the safety purpose of the passenger during emergency time. A laminated glass(windscreen) is made of 3layers(glass/PU polyurethane/glass) which breaks like tiny crystals during any high impact, the PU layer helps the tiny glasses not to hit the passengers. Like wise for the side glasses. A Sunfilm installed glass is breakable and it is not dangerous. And more over, a tint won’t add much weight while compared to the pressure caused by the glass beading present on both sides of the window glass.

lAs per the Supreme Court Judgment for Writ Petition (Civil) No.265 of 2011, Para 24.2 pasting of any material, including films of any VLT is NOT PERMITTED on the safety glasses of any vehicle. The above judgement copy is available on the web. On the basis, of this judgement, in 2018 police have asked me to remove the 70% Visible Light Transmission (VLT) film in my car. I don't think that judgement has been over ruled yet. Can somebody clarify this?
