Love this! Widening horizons sounds great - I’d probably move from maths to business too 😁

Thank you, this was really useful!! I currently have an offer from birmingham to do the straight LLB, so this video has helped me get to know what the Law school is like.

Hello, thanks a lot for the video! I recently came across a comment stating that employers in the UK tend to prioritize elite Russell Group universities such as Oxford/Cambridge or Edinburgh etc. As a foreign student, I'm wondering if there's such a perception in the UK and if there is, how does the reputation of the University of Birmingham stand? Is it average, good? (I got an offer for LLB ^^) Thanks again

This video was really useful ! 💖 do you have any advice on gaining legal work experience and for which years at university ?
@BeccaandSoph
@BeccaandSoph 3 жыл бұрын
That’s great, I’m really pleased it’s helped! First year is a great year to start gaining legal work experience, there are specific summer schemes for first years which you can apply to! Most people start applying in second year so don’t put pressure on yourself if you aren’t lucky in first year! Top tips to gain the experience are: 1) choose 5/6 firms to apply to so that you can spend good time on each application, 2) tailor the applications so it’s really clear why you want to work for that specific firm and 3) get someone else to read over your application! Hope that helps 💕

This sounds brilliant! How would you say the “Widening Horizons” programme differs from studying, say, “Law and Business”? Would you recommend keeping to pure Law, or choosing a dual-honours degree when starting out?
@BeccaandSoph
@BeccaandSoph 3 жыл бұрын
It really was Chris! So you just do a Widening Horizons module in first year. It probably scratches the surface of the subject but nothing more. I think it depends whether you want more of a deep dive! Love that UoB provide both!

What does your timetable look like? Are you in Monday-Friday?
@BeccaandSoph
@BeccaandSoph 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Suniya☺️ Contact hours were between 12 and 16 hours a week and they’d be split over all 5 days. You’d sometimes get a day with no lectures / seminars!

Hey, just wondering if you have to do a law entry exam to get into university of Birmingham for LLB law? Entry exams terrify me and I really want to find a good university which doesn’t require it!
@BeccaandSoph

Just one question… what about your placements / starting salary??😋😋
@BeccaandSoph
@BeccaandSoph 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the question! We all tried to get Vacation Schemes (placements) in second year. They’re super competitive but I luckily managed to get one! You could also get first year placements which I didn’t realise! In terms of starting salary, I assume you mean starting salaries at law firms post-Uni? If so, most law firms’ starting salaries can be found online (Legal Cheek etc)!

Do you think any of the law courses will go into clearing? X
@BeccaandSoph
@BeccaandSoph 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! I think it will depend on how many people meet the entry requirements but it's a large cohort so can imagine places will be offered via clearing! Good luck on results day!! x
