I think them being spread out has to do with it being windy causing them to be fast on the wing.

Wind could possibly play a row to some extent. What I see is birds trying to take position to turn the team the way they want. To avoid frequency and overall not gelled as a team and settled into a certain spot as a team member...Agreed wind causes faster flying and could eventually lead to a bad habit in young birds if flown too often in heavy winds.
