If you go to In N Out, order a Double Double "animal style" combo with the fries "light well" and salt them immediately while they're still hot. If you like spicey, ask them to put chopped yellow peppers in the burger. I just like the peppers on the side and nibble on them. I also squeeze the juice from the pepper onto the burger. If you're in the mood for a shake, order the Neopolitan shake. It's a shake with a layer each of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. I also recommend going to Grand Central Market in DTLA. Some good selections there. The strawberry and Tiger Tail donuts from The Donut Man stand are great. And there is the Original Pantry, also in DTLA. It's an old school diner with great breakfast selections. There is usually a line, but if you don't mind eating at the counter, it's faster. Just let them know you want the counter. They make their own sourdough bread and it's great. I always get it toasted. I usually get the #3 with bacon. Get some Mexican taquitos at Cielito Lindo at Olvera Street which is also in DTLA across from Union Station. All the downtown eateries are accessible via the LA Metro. They have a $5 a day pass plus $2 for a Metro Tap card, and you can ride the subway, light rail, and buses all day long. If you have time, take the E line to Santa Monica and checkout the pier. Several places to grab a snack. But I recommend a short walk to Bay Cities Italian deli on Lincoln. If you like Italian subs, get the Godmother sandwich with everything. BTW, the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica is a good place to shop and stroll. It's close to the E Line station, too. Hope this helps, have fun, but be smart.
