Being afraid is also normal. Pregnancy and birth are dangerous. It used to be the most common cause of death for women and infants. There’s nothing wrong with being nervous or even afraid.
@Happytown7523
@Happytown7523 Жыл бұрын
@@Chels-fz5uq There are risks associated with everything; even with driving to the grocery store on any ordinary day. Birth is not nearly as high-risk as it has been portrayed in this hospital-obsessed culture. It is a fact that the maternal and infant death rates increased when women began giving births in hospitals in the early 20th century. There is extreme abuse, coercion, and unnecessary medical interventions that occur for uncomplicated labors and pregnancies. OBGYNs also do not treat pregnancy complications before they occur. Like with the condition eclampsia, this condition is widely remediated by major changes in nutrition (high protein, high salt diet).

For those of us who started taking labor and delivery away from the medical profession and giving it to midwifes back in the 1970's, we cannot figure out how women keep losing this process. I guess we just feel grateful that women realize that it is not normalizing birth, the normal was there all along, the woman just forgets somehow. Here is to remembering what being a woman is!

i had a natural home birth as well :) my husband was the midwife - it was incredible. he was my rock, he'd hold me, we'd dance, we'd laugh, he'd encourage me, and so much more. Birth is incredibly intimate. labor took 3 days, but because it was at home my anxiety was low and i was able to dilate properly, and my body was able to take the time it needed. I had no tears. our first is now 5 months old and i would totally do it again. kidney stones are way worse than labor pain, labor pain is INTENSE but moving around helped so much, along with being in the arms of your loved one.

@@FarmhouseonBoonehi update on how my labor went ...very different than my 8th ❤ but praise God we were in the right place at the right time!! 10 days before my due date (which was Nov 2) l, we were sitting in church Sunday morning and I felt something pop, when I got up there was lots of gushing so I told my husband I think my water broke, but when I got up to go to the bathroom he followed me to tell me I was gushing blood everywhere. From that moment on I instinctively knew I needed a c section asap. It was a miracle that our church was 5 minutes away from the nearest emergency hospital with a labor and delivery. It made all the difference in saving my baby, as the placenta had started coming off the wall due to preeclampsia/high blood pressure. ❤❤ We were able to leave the kids with our church family and rush to the hospital where they did an urgent C-section and just as I was losing the last large amount of blood, the doctor delivered my baby safe and alive. When I arrived at the hospital I was only dilated to 3cm and I wasn't showing signs of active labor which was another blessing because active contractions would have made the placenta come off the uterus even faster which would mean the baby would suffer from lack of oxygen. I am forever grateful for the location I was in. The surgeon who delivered the baby said my intuition to request a c section immediately was the best decision, and the right timing.

@@theselittlepigsstayedhomeWe're fortunate to have medication and surgery. Some women have a lower pain tolerance. Others just have complications. You never know. It's never been more convenient to be pregnant and experience labor with all these choices. Tribal women always gave birth surrounded by a small group of other women for a good reason. It was supportive by older women who knew better and helpful for younger women who needed to learn. A birth center seems like a balance between hospital and home (impersonal vs rustic).

Lisa! Your videos are so heartwarming and positive! I’ll be 60 years old in a few weeks, and love you and your family and life style. You make childbirth lovely and natural. You were outside clipping flowers from your cutting garden and arranging them! I loved this! My heart is so full for you and your family. You’re really a beautiful person, Lisa. God bless you!!

Precious! Thanks for sharing such a special time! My dr kept me walking when I was in labor, until I couldn’t walk anymore. My deliveries were fast & easy, other than my c-section. 😊❤ God is so good!

I had prodromal labor for A WEEK before going into full labor with my second. I was EXHAUSTED and i feel like it really affected my initial bonding him. It DID make my total labor shorter though. Congratulations!! He's beautiful ❤

Exactly the same for me with my last pregnancy, number 6 , but once I actually went into it was only 45 minutes, my body was so tired I couldn't even pick my daughter up the next day, she was 10 lbs 6.5 onze though which didn't help 😂

Same with me. Slight contractions started on a monday. This way I couldn't sleep properly anymore and I started eating much less since my hunger disapeared. I gave birth on that friday morning. When labor started I was completely exhausted and it took about 6 hours or so. It was my first girl and - same as with you - I had the impression that bonding wasn't taking place. It took me months to start to recover my physical strength and years to build a lovingvrelationship with my daughter. But it was all worth while. I'm now 53y. and we have 5 kids. I'd do it all over again.❤❤❤

What a blessing it is to get to share in such a sweet, innocent day in your family's life. Congratulations to you all! Our newest grandaughter is 4 weeks old today and we're just absolutely in love with her. It's cool to know that your sweet baby Victor, is the same age as she is. ❤ I sure do miss these days when my three boys were this little. Lisa, thank you for just being you. You are real and inspiring, not pretentious, just down to Earth and a beautiful person. I'm so glad I found your channel a few months back so I can follow your journey. ❤

All 6 of mine have caused prodormal labor. From week 32-42. Yes, all of mine have been 41-43 weeks carried. Upside is, actual labor has been under 30 minutes for all 6, with no real warning. Four have been unassisted homebirths, and two were oops baby popped out in the delivery room. I love all aspects of pregnancy and birth, and post partum, sans the afterpains. You remind me so much of how I process labor as well. Just live life, have a baby, keep living. It's how it's meant to be. Life doesn't stop, it just gets more exciting.

@FarmhouseonBoone thank you. Unfortunately, I'm too ingrained in urban life which I don't particularly like. To uproot now and take off to a suburban location will not only cost a lot of money but it will also be difficult for my husband too. I wish when I was younger I made plans for this😒

All the baby birthing sisters! So cool. I loved seeing how you were distracting yourself and working hard but laying down then smiling in between contractions. That is amazing you were able to have a home birth for your children to be able to be there with you after you birth. That is really wonderful. I love it.

I love that you contribute to normalizing birth again. That your daughter is helping you out in the kitchen while you labor in between tasks… This is what labor can be! I hated when people used to try to scare me into ‘the serious nature of labor’, because I was not afraid of labor. I LOVED labor. No, it was not easy… but I loved getting to experience it & feel my body change & work to bring baby earthside. It’s beautiful!

Many women die during childbirth, it is serious. Just because you have survivorship bias because it worked out well for you doesn’t mean women should think it’s nothing to be worried about.

Labor and birth are such individual experiences. You make it look easy. I really like how you stayed as busy as possible. Ignoring helps when things are longer and prodromal labor is that. I had the unusual experience of each labor being 4 hours, start to finish. I enjoyed standing and walking through each and actually did not lay down until starting to push. Being focused and having the help in place so I'm not distracted out of my primal brain aided me. Love a amazing woman at her super power of labor and birth!
