On February 6, 1796, William Blount and fifty-four other founders signed a new constitution in the territorial capital of Knoxville, beginning a process that resulted in the creation of the state of Tennessee four months later. Blount Mansion National Historic Landmark presents this educational video on the 225th anniversary of this historical event.
The film identifies the men who led the statehood effort, places their actions in historical context, and explores the never-before-tried "Tennessee Method" by which the territory gained admission to the union as our nation's sixteenth state on June 1, 1796. The presentation, hosted by Blount Mansion's Director of Marketing and Public Relations Michael Jordan, includes interviews with a historian Jack Neely and Constitutional Law scholar Stewart Harris, as well as a special message from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee.

Born and raised in Tennessee and will always love 💕 Tennessee. My grandmother was Cherokee, grandfather,British never held resentment for no one. My grandfather’s mother was cousins to Frank and Jesse James my great grandmother was their aunt. My grandfather fought in the WW1.My kin folks had a lot of history here in Tennessee. My grandfather’s brother shot and killed the sheriff of Robertson county he was harressing my uncle over his wife but they say it was because he was running a still, never had a record of showing that he even police records for nothing. But to make a long story short he told my uncle he was coming out to arrest him the worse mistake on the sheriffs decision. My uncle spent 18yrs in prison. My uncle was a good man and him and the sheriff would have became good friends if he just left his wife alone.

🇺🇸 (DAR) Gov Lee is a likeable political professional. I'm not a Republican but I recognize potentials and vote as "I" determine. A Moderate that "Tilts Left". I remain a Democrat as long as the Red Party continues to support the elite and Corporatism. I would prefer Lee by far to a DT ... Everyday. Lee is a model of Appropriate Adult Behavior and balance in his Emotional Development. If I were a Republican, he would be my focus for that Pennsylvania Ave Position. Lets get our Financials back under the Treasury. Lets get a standard for News Media Ethics, the info is toxic and majority owned by Murdoch and Rothschild. ) (and their allies) Neither are Citizens nor Residents of the USA, they merely meet the paperwork requirements. Those obviously don't keep the Global 1% of the 1% elite from controlling our Money and Information, they own both, thus "They Control the USA." Andrew Jackson and Jefferson warned us against giving our power (financials/vcurrency) away Lets undo these mistakes. 🇺🇸 Beth NW Tennessee 🍀 Irish American of the Lynch family (Grandfather X 6, founded Lynchburg, VA) I'm DAR ❤

Doesn't matter if you are a left wing or a right wing. BOTH WINGS BELONG TO THE SAME BIRD!!! They were established in order to give the peasants the illusion that they have a choice. They don't!!! They OWN you!!! The "REAL OWNERS " of the United States don't want you to know that you don't have a choice. Everything

I met a local (Blount County) pastor some years ago. He had taken one year off from life (previously) and spent it at UT's library, researching William Blount. As a result of Blount's "participation" in relocating the Cherokee, the Cherokee put a permanent curse on the name William Blount. I'm sure the curse missed a few years, but every year, a William Blount High School student has died. And, responding directly to your reply, do you really expect us to believe Blount just "stood by" while Jackson relocated the Cherokee? Blount was the catalyst. He wanted their land. Period.

I'm am quite positive that William Blount did not help Andrew Jackson with the Removal. He died almost 40 years before it happened.
