João I, also known as John I of Portugal, reigned from 1385 to 1433. His rule marked the start of the Aviz dynasty and a significant period of consolidation and expansion for Portugal. Ascending to the throne after the 1383-1385 Crisis, his victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota against Castile solidified his position and secured Portuguese independence. João I's reign saw the beginning of the Portuguese empire, and the Age of Discoveries, with notable ventures such as the conquest of Ceuta in 1415. His policies strengthened the economy and the navy, laying the groundwork for Portugal's golden era of exploration and maritime dominance.

He is, to many, the best king of Portugal. It is staggering the state of the country before and after him. Also there are several things I didn’t even mention, like the end of the “Hispanic era” in favor of the “Era of Christ”. Thank you for the like and comment!👍💪
