Thanks for the comprehensive quotations from the relevant documents (memoranda from 1935 and 1936 according to Adrian Wettstein). *Manstein's conceptions from the 1930s describes what we observe in the 21st century* - with dedicated armoured divisions de facto replaced by 'frontline aviation' and increasingly precision guided missile strike, _attacking the operational rear of a line of combat in a dash_ - while armoured vehicles in an *_assault gun_** role* and *self propelled artillery, supporting _infiltration_ of fortified positions by infantry detachments - e.g. suppressing pillboxes and opposing artillery - continue to operate as outlined, back then...

StuG should have been a bit more of and engineering vehicle and have a bulldozer blade (as the blade could also have been considered as part of the front armor), thus could have dug emplacements for towed guns, rear arms and a pto (like a modern field tractor) of course a better and increase number of gears would have been needed.. but then there was a lack of trucks anyway (and the Sentinal steam truck type should have been used.. LoL).

This article is well done but the music is beyond distracting. 99% of the men watching these articles are well over 18. Otherwise, job well done.

It seems that various aspects of the German Army was well accepted of the concept of the use of some form of artillery to act to support the infantry, how then according to doctrine was the development of the infantry support tank, for the purposes of this question called the Panzer IV, and the development, implementation of the Strumgeschüz were functional the same vehicle. The maximum speed of the Panzer IV was 40 kph, which was slower than that of the the Strumgeschütz III, and so could accompany the infantry. It almost seems that there were separate designs simply equip different branches on the Army? It may be an interesting aside, but apparently the most numerous vehicle types produced by WWII Germany were relatively slow, infantry support armored vehicles, the Panzer IV and the Strumgeschüz, rather than the far more famous Panzer III, Tiger tanks, the Panther and dedicated tanks destroyers. (and yes, I understand both the 'infantry support vehicles' were adapted and proved to be very capable in the anti-tank role.

The Panzer IV and the StuG III were for different branches of the army. The Panzer IV were for the Panzerwaffe, the StuG III were for the Sturmartillerie. Quite different things.

My understanding is that the Mk IV was originally designed as an infantry support tank with the Mk III as a breakthrough tank destroyer. But in a time of rapid change it became obvious that the III could not carry a big enough tank destroying gun whereas the IV could. This is all illustrated by the various guns each used over time. Then of course the III's chassis was big enough to mount a suitable casemated gun for infantry support.

It had to come down to money. I think the Stug was cheaper to make than the panzer IV. I am at a loss otherwise, as to why Pz IV couldn't of performed the role of the Stug. With some Pz IV assigned to armored units and some to the artillery with the crew of each receiving the appropriate training.

The ww1 german special infantry was called Stoßtruppen not Sturmtruppen, or not?

Pronounciation is perfectly clear even if only a tiny bit off in focus/weighting. A welcome change to the many butchered versions of other people. I cringe every time I hear Heckler and cock for example.

Yay StuG! I didn't catch it until 9:26 StuG IV not III. There are eight road wheels not six. 11:02 StuG III😁
@TanksEncyclopediaYT
@TanksEncyclopediaYT 3 жыл бұрын
At 9:26 it is a StuG III all day :) I do know that you should count the number of wheels, but the first StuG prototypes were based on the Panzer III Ausf.B, which had a different suspension system with more wheels. Check our article linked in the description or listen to the full video.

Your german pronunciation is perfect, but you put the emphasis on the last syllable, dont to this. It makes it sound unnatural or you kinda try to make it sound threatening. Usually you put the emphasis on the first syllable.
