Hi Everyone! In today's video I am sharing my birth trauma story of my premature son. I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. I had to undergo general anesthesia and have an emergency C-section. When I woke up, I was in the ICU and my son (since he was a preemie) was in the NICU. This is my story and I hope it helps other mamas out there feel that they are less alone.

I got hellp syndrome as well, preeclampsia and eclampsia . I think the nurses didn’t believe me and thought I was faking it when I got to the hospital. I was at home and all of a sudden developed a huge migraine, pain in my body and I couldn’t see anymore, my husband drove me to the er. I couldn’t see, I couldn’t walk anymore and all I felt was pain. A random man with a broken arm screamed at the nurses to come help me and one of them did. My daughter was 35 weeks old and it was the most traumatic day of my life but I’m glad to be here with my child.

ICU delirium is extremely common. Sedation doesn't make you completely unconscious so auditory and visual hallucinations can happen, especially between doses of medications as they wear off.

Your story brought tears to my eyes. Seeing the video of you holding your baby for the first time while not feeling well literally made me cry. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am watching this video for research as I am taking classes to become a doula. Thank you for giving me the privilege of coming across your video for my assignment. You and your baby are strong!

The moment when he opened his little eyes and you can hear the love and the sorrow in your partner's voice when he talks to you both. It's great that the nurses wheeled you up to the NICU in the middle of the night to be with your baby. Your baby couldn't have possibly forgotten you. He knew you the first time he heard your voice outside the womb.

This story was so moving, I’m pregnant with my first and I stumbled across this because at my last appointment my doctor was alarmed by high blood pressure and I started watching other women’s stories. I think God is going to bless you in so many ways, and there is purpose in all of this even though it’s sounds like it was really hard and still is. I hope you are able to process and heal from all of this emotionally, in time.❤

The day before my due date I was admitted to the hospital for an induction and diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. Over the next 24 hours while I was at the hospital, I deteriorated and was diagnosed with hellp syndrome. I had a vaginal delivery but they mentioned the possibility of an emergency c section a lot. My baby was healthy, 8 lbs. I was in a large hospital in a relatively large city so I was in the best possible place for complications.

I had HELLP syndrome in 1999 in a rural hospital. The nurses had never heard of it. I, like you, had really bad labs, the beginnings of seizures due to BP, my c-section incision did open from swelling. I started bleeding, had hallucinations, my stomach stopped working, my brain and liver were swollen, lungs weren't working. I stopped getting worse when I was given platelets. Mine got down to 14,000. My son was 36 wks, born not breathing or responding to pain. He was sent to another hospital with a NICU. He had a swollen brain and had to stay on CPAP. He's 24 now and doing great. I've been very unhealthy since HELLP. Stay on top of your health no matter how busy life gets and please keep a watch of your blood levels, BP, and tell all future Dr's about it. Good luck! I'm happy everything went well!

I had my son 2 months ago, I had preeclampsia at 35 weeks pregnant. Then 2 days after emergency c section I got worst had postpartum preeclampsia. Delivery didn’t work. I am grateful to be here and have my son as well. I feel you, I am still sad that I wasn’t there for my son the first month, I am still grieving not being able to breast feed. I’m sad to have experienced this traumatic birth. I am 2 months post partum and I am still on bp meds. Hopefully soon I will get off of them. Thank you for sharing your story. Blessing to you

I also wanted to say that I didn’t start breastfeeding my son until he was about 2 months old. I got out of the hospital and needed to heal. Then there was a learning curve for both of us. But with using a nipple shield and going to a lactation consultant we were able to transition to breastfeeding. I hope that encourages you.

@@EleanorJosefina I will be looking into seeing a lactation consultant once I get off these meds. The meds that I’m taking aren’t ok to feed baby while on them. But I do hope and pray that I will be able too soon. Prayers for you as well that you may have peace through the hard days. healing of your mind and body in Jesus name! Thank you for sharing your story. It encouraged me through this season of my life. To feel less alone in this experience and to find hope through it.

Thank you for sharing your story. God's design of our bodies is amazing. I just had severe preeclampsia that resulted in an emergency c-section. My labs were all over the place and the delivery did not do the natural healing. I was on mag for 3 days, and I came home terrified at the thought of having to return to the hospital for my BP. BPs elevated x2 days after coming home. Before leaving the hospital I had a lot of anxiety and described the experience as trauma and PTSD. I am also a nurse which made me a challenging patient. Never be afraid to advocate for yourself and ask questions. There came a point that I told the docs that I wished to refuse some of their treatment recommendations. I had to trust God and his design. Please don't be afraid to ask about meds that are compatible with breast feeding. My meds are, and I pump and take the milk to the NICU.

I’m going to post multiple comments. I’m going to comment as I watch your video. First off, I teared up seeing you hold your baby in the very beginning of the video. You look so out of it yet you’re trying so hard to bond with your baby. That was me after my emergency C-section. I was so drugged up that I could barely hold my baby girl.

The fact that you survived all that and got through all that just shows how amazing and strong you are. I absolutely love what you named your son, it's such a unique and amazing name. The end of the video just shows how miraculous the whole thing was. Your baby boy is so beautiful! My daughter was on the low, percentile as well I think after I did some research, it said that help syndrome decreases the placenta blood flow to baby which means baby would get less nutrients to grow.

That is so scary that they gave you pain meds and left you alone, thinking that your issues were resolved. But if you think about it, it’s almost as if they were providing you hospice care. When people are in pain and passing away they give them pain meds to let them go as comfortable as possible. how scary. That’s what I was thinking by about when you said they thought you were sleeping but really you were just getting worse quietly due to pain meds subsiding your pain

You are amazing! Thanks for sharing 🌺. Unfortunately so many causes for pregnancy disease and issues are still unknown for so many doctors and so randomly happens to women. They should put more budgets for research in this area. Most their advices are theoretical than practical and women suffer. We are sending rockets to galaxy but what benefit when so many beautiful mothers should suffer. You have right to be sad, I felt sad and I hope you heal sooner. Your are beautiful inside and outside ❤

I had pre-eclampsia that caused a super long induction then emergency c-section. Mine got worse after delivery as well. I was lucky that I naturally had high platelets which kept mine from dropping too low. It was the worst experience of my life and I did not end up in the ICU. I was readmitted 2x. I was put on magnesium 2x for 2 days. I get what you are saying about your eyes. My vision was so blurry due to the BP and mag. That medicine is brutal. My vision did eventually return to normal. I hope the same for you. I hope you do some counseling! I had very bad ptsd after and still to this day (almost 3 years later) get so nervous and panicked about getting my Bp checked. I think it took about 6 months for my kidneys and Bp to fully regulate. Now I’m struggling to decide if I want to try for another. I’m going to be 34. In so scared. There is part of me that feels so guilty if I don’t give my daughter a sibling. It’s hard to not feel like the decision was robbed from me due to having such severe pre-e with my first. May God bless you and your family ❤

Hi, I am very sorry for what happened to you. 3 months ago I also experienced preeclampsia and hellp syndrome too. I still can't explain why you saw those images. I also saw images on the ceiling of a girl watching movies while eating, in front all the paintings showed strange things and another painting with a picture of me making faces. Would it be the medications or the high blood pressure? I was really scared :( That was traumatic for me and I still crying because I remember everything and when the Doctor told me what I have. I just told my husband if I’m no make it please take care of my baby girl, that was so so hard for me. God gave me another opportunity to live 🙏🏽 Thanks for sharing this. Sorry to disturb you ladies, but preeclampsia can be prevented by simple things such as drinking 8 glasses of water/day; exercise or at the very least increasing blood circulation in those legs/swollen feet. It is even worth investing in a foot/leg massager which keeps the blood circulation in the legs when exercise is not an option. Avoid junk food and eat healthy...you will have a healthier pregnancy.
@EleanorJosefina
@EleanorJosefina 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info. I thought the same thing but unfortunately this isn’t true. For example the Olympic runner Tori Bowie just died from preeclampsia/eclampsia and she was extremely fit and ate well and still had swollen legs and feet during her pregnancy.
@imatcarletonuni
@imatcarletonuni 11 ай бұрын
@@EleanorJosefina I understand. A lot of pre eclampsia has to do with protein imbalances. Such as a greater salty food consumption increases risk for pre eclampsia because it creates an imbalance of salt to water ratio. Nobody knows her diet and how much liquid she drank (regardless of exercise) one must ensure they stay hydrated to keep the proteins and salts diluted at low levels so it does not trigger eclampsia. Also swollen feet and legs can be quickly alleviated in a massager. She may have over looked all of these variables thinking her pre-pregnancy health would suffice.

This isn’t true, I had a healthy pregnancy, exercised my whole pregnancy, I am an athlete I eat and ate healthy before and during pregnancy. I got prenatal massages regularly and I still got preeclampsia, 2 days later after emergency c section delivery I almost died. The delivery of placenta and my baby didn’t make me get better. I got worst. It was only by the grace of God that I am still here and my son is healthy

@@imatcarletonuni the first 24 hrs I had no symptom. Only high blood pressure. But not in crisis level. I was at home with my son. Then the second day when I woke up to feed my son I noticed a huge difference in my body. I didn’t only swell from my feet and face, it was also my back and all around. I didn’t even fit in my pregnancy clothes nor shoes I weighed my self the second day and I was 30 pounds heavier than the day I had my son. That’s when I knew something was wrong. I took my blood pressure and it was 159/115. When I got to the hospital it’s just kept going up. It was affecting my kidneys, liver, vision. The doctor told me the I had severe preeclampsia and that it was progressing rapidly.
