Birthday Bachelor Party Banded Iron! Hunting for Beautiful Gold Chatoyant Wyoming Banded Iron!

In this one, we begin an amazing adventure to celebrate my bachelor party! This is part one of four epic hunts for some absolutely amazing material! We were joined by ‪@Rookie_Rockounding‬, Montana Rock Mom, and Derek the Rock Master for part one of the Bachelor trip, which also just so happened to be my birthday! Our first stop was for gorgeous banded iron, some of which was filled with a beautiful gold chatoyant mineral that made it look like Tiger Iron! After our hunt, we jump back to the shop for a quick ammonite prep intermission, then cut some of our finds! I hope you all enjoy this one, and I will have another one out soon! Happy bday man. Incase anyone didn't mention it- the chatoyant, golden fibers in tigers eye and banded iron, is tremolite and actinolite that's been encased by, and in some cases replaced by, silica, a lot like what happens with petrified wood :) Oh and the unknown green mineral with golden sprays is likely to be antigorite (a type of serpentine) or nephrite.

Reminds me of bingamite (Probably spelled wrong) from the iron ranges of Minnesota. Such beautiful rock that the camera can not show. ❤

Great finds and a great crew of friends. Moonstone-like rocks can be any gradient of grey or even black, will be interested to find out. The geology of the area is likely well documented like all the states in that area that are so resource rich. Not like where I am from where some of the most recent maps and surveys date back to the 60's and 70's, lolz! Got to let us know what they are if you identify them bc now I need to know too!!

Hi, the rock from minute 13:26 looks like Actinolite, but I'm not sure. I will put a photo on community with a specimen from a museum that I visited this summer.

That is the first time I've ever heard it put that way... "I got aggressively sick." I'm glad you're on the road to recovery. I totally understand, though. I've had Covid TWICE this year. I was "aggressively" sick as well. Great video, Theo.

I was just in Basin, WY 3 days ago and found some decent stuff just alongside the road....think the Banded iron stuff was further south of me and didn't make it there. Banded iron is cool stuff.

16:24 have you ever thought about using spray foam it might help you clap your rocks anyway you want to and they're all solids that will dissolve
