It was really special. The way they worked together to get it done in just 2 hours is a testament to their teamwork that obviously comes from working together on many family events, tasks etc because a family this big it often doesn't naturally exist. When I was only sick and not terminally ill I was a year one teacher and also a solo foster mum. At the beginning of every school year which is early February in my country I would get a massive poster board and wrote 'If we work as a team we can do anything.' All my kids (students) would dip their hand in paint and I'd put everyone's hand print around the border mine included. Every new student put their handprint as well. Obviously we had talks about what that meant. We would say the words in a sing song way whenever we needed to remember that we do better working with each other. This wouldn't work with high school kids but it meant a lot to my five year olds. It was so nice to see my students bring their loved ones in to see the agreement and where their handprint was. It also gave me the opportunity to let families know that they are a part of the team as well.😊

My niece's birthday is one day before mine. Every year, my mun and I would visit for her birthday dinner and cake. Never once did my brother and sil wish me a happy birthday (nor the next day on my actual birthday!). Thankfully, my niece has grown up to be the sweetest and most thoughtful lady. We never hear from her parents, nor her brother and sister, but she always face-times us for birthdays. She face times us regularly just to say hello, too. I love that they allowed the kids to have the snowball fight in the house, a lot of parents would have stopped it right away. Sometimes as parents it's ok to just sit back and watch your kids have fun even if it's going to make a mess. Messes can always be cleaned but memories like that don't happen often.
